What a shit show https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/48619935/passportgate-eligibility-crisis-dutch-eredivisie-matches-replayed The Netherlands doesn’t allow dual nationality - it’s amazing that none of these players were informed, but then has not one of the silly sods applied for a Dutch passport or tried to vote and found that there was a problem? Blocks on dual nationality are mostly done in the ‘developing world’ - only a few ‘western’ nations block it. Further proof - as if it was needed - of what a bunch of shysters and scumbags football agents are; they should be there giving players advice on matters like this
enthusiast
It's pretty much untested waters in a few ways. Regarding dual nationalty, The Netherlands does offer it under restrictive circumstances but, as I understand it, Suriname flat out didn't for a good few decades post-independence. They only started looking for footballers amongst the diaspora in 2019 (and Indonesia more recently than that), and the general flow of naturalization has been the other way around. But passports aren't the main problem, work visas are: to qualify for a work visa as a non-EU footballer, you need to show that you'll be earning €508,000 p/a. It's slightly staggering the immigration department seems not to have asked about this at any point for any of these players (when I got my visa I had to show I wouldn't be a drain on the public purse, but then I suppose I'm not a journeyman midfield playmaker for NEC and Suriname, more's the pity). I'm in two minds, being anti-border and pro-free movement but also anti-modern football and pro-chaos. They should let anybody live and work wherever, but they should also wipe a couple of hundred of this season's results off the slate for a laugh. SteV
Interesting. You wonder how long it will be before a football club makes a similar decision.
Stifler
Football clubs should have done it ages ago. The thing is though I’m fucking convinced some of the top 6 clubs pay for bot accounts and it bumps their numbers up and they in turn get revenue. So long as they do, they aren’t going to change a thing.

Big Geordie
What's the craic with True Geordie - seems as if the Daily Heil have done a hit piece on him? Not a supporter of his mind, though I have watched some of his videos down the years. He seems to have shifted with regards some of the things he talks about. As with a lot of these YouTubers / influencers, whatever you want to call them, once their initial ISP starts to wane in popularity, they attempt to pivot/diversify in order to try and attract new numbers, and that often involves something a bit more extreme in its nature. But then I read quotes from Moyes (reported by Paul Joyce) saying he needed to do better and to improve his work and training, and also to "pull his finger out", which might be an old quote. Likewise "he's a player we put a lot of faith and money into so we are looking for a lot more". Might just be old school boot up the backside territory from Moyes.
