We are only ahead of Chelsea on goals scored.

If we dont beat Chelsea and we finish level on points and GD, Chelsea would finish above on head to head.

H2H is a last resort tie breaker in the U.K.

Yeah

Points

GD

Goals Scored

Head 2 Head

What i said in my original post was if we have the same points and GD, potentially it could come down to head to head particularly with us having the more difficult remaining fixtures

Same points, GD AND same goals scored before h2h comes into it.

But given we’re 4 goals ahead it would take a fairly odd set of results over the last two games for it to come down to that, so I wouldn’t fret.

As long as one of the wins is Chelsea then it will

Exactly. As although Chelsea could still pass us on GD they'd have to beat Forest to do that, meaning the best Forest could get would be 69, and they'd have to overturn a nine goals difference. One of them could pass us but not both.

That may even improve tonight if Forest don't beat Palace.

so hard to predict but I think there's a good chance ourselves, Chelsea, Forest and Villa all go into the last game on 66 points

assuming that

we beat Chelsea and lose to Arse

Chelsea lose to us and beat MU

Forest lose to Palace, then beat Wham and Leicester

Villa beat Bournemouth and Spurs

above scenario is not ideal as final day could be excruciatingly stressful

would still back us to beat Everton at home which should be enough

Be quite happy if this turned out true. Chelsea Forest play each other and Villa have a terrible goal difference, so it would be a great opportunity

Are we the most pessimistic fans in the whole entire world?

Asking for a friend

Weirdly I saw a thing with a few 40odd year old Man City fans and they are still like us, expecting bad things to happen despite the last decade plus of evidence to the contrary. So by my reckoning it might just be a genuine fan thing tbh.

Id take this scenario now.

Beat Chelsea and Everton at home to secure CL has always been likely anyway.

Because of our GD we can be level on points going into the final game.

What we don’t want is to need other results to go in our favour.

Beat Chelsea and we get top 5, don't beat them and it's going to be very hard, it's as simple as that . Always expected Chelsea to win yesterday so nothing has changed really with that result .

This is basically the score. Fail to beat Chelsea we’d have to beat Arsenal away instead an hope results go for us.

We'd probably need to go to Arsenal and get a result if we don't beat them which isn't ideal. Could do with Arsenal knocking PSG out as painful and unlikely as that'll be, just to keep them distracted.

Yes I get that point but equally Arsenal winning the champions league is a hideous one. I actually think m if they get knocked out there might be a bit of a hangover anyway. They’ll still qualify for CL so maybe they just be a bit flat in general with “season over” scenario.

This is where I’m at.

I think we are more than capable of getting 3 points from our final 2 games, possibly 4, depending on which Arsenal turns up.

I’m just not convinced that we’ll beat Chelsea. It will be a hard game, if we had Joelinton I’d have a lot more faith.

We’re just not losing away to Arsenal without something going drastically wrong or a huge slice of luck in their favour.

Palace v Forest and Bournemouth v Villa are huge games.

If they could both avoid away wins then we could go into Sunday knowing a win would all but guarantee us top 5.

Sky would be wanking themselves to death if that's the scenario that unfolds. Would be gripping to be fair, would still make me sick with the wankfest they'll be if Chelsea make it.

What could be an interesting scenario now.

If villa don't win all their remaining games (so they draw one and win 2), and we draw to Chelsea but win against arsenal or everton (latter more likely), Chelsea beat man u, forest beat west ham and Leicester.

We could get cl with 67 points assuming the forest vs Chelsea match doesn't end in a draw, so as long as someone gets beat (with the loser not getting CL). If they got a draw in this scenario they'd both finish above us.

Would be an interesting match, would they both just play for a draw in that scenario knowing if they don't attack they risk the other getting a goal and knocking them out, could get all game theory.

If there is a scenario where drawing gets both of them CL they absolutely will play for the draw like

We just have to focus on beating Chelsea to take any chances of them having a friendly between them away
