Chelsea is different because it's a six pointer.

Yeah from that point of view it is definitely more important, but like Villa, it's one of those that if we can't win, it's just as important that we don't lose.

Looking at villas fixtures after tonight, they are well capable of winning them all and getting 12 points.

That means we need to win four also. Our gd took a hit on Saturday

They could lose or draw to Fulham & Bournemouth(A), all depends then on what Spurs and Man Utd teams turn up too..Impossible to predict any outcomes

Tottenham and Man Utd are the two teams you want to play right now (other than Leicester and Southampton). Fortunately Fulham and Bourenmouth tend to show up against the bigger sides and their away form isn't the greatest, until recently, so they should hopefully slip up there.

Man City win tonight is very much needed.

We win our home games, it’s then huge pressure on Villa needing to be faultless against Bournemouth away, Spurs home and Man Utd away. Whilst they’re all off form for different reasons, they’re games that can still be tough. Then Chelsea have Forest away final game (with Man Utd and Liverpool at home) where again they have to be faultless to over take us.

If Villa knock out Palace in the semi final then that guarantees EL. I know it's not the competition we want to be in but if the footballing gods had offered you a trophy and EL football in August then there isn't a single Newcastle fan who wouldn't have snapped their arms off for that deal :)

The absolute worst case scenario is shaping up to be EL - there's dozens of clubs who'd love to be in that position

How does that work?

Means that the FA Cup slot for the EL would be handed to the League - 6th and 7th. Given the other 3 clubs in the semis all finish in the top 6 (Forest, City and Villa) then us and Chelsea get EL. I think anyway

I don't see the Brighton or Chelsea games as any different, we could win either or lose either. Chelsea might be at home, but they still have a lot of good players who could hurt us. Brighton probably less so, but I could just as easily see us winning down there as well.

Ipswich is the easiest game on paper. We need to win those for confidence.  I don’t think there’s a world where we lose at home to Ipswich and then go on to beat Brighton away. Confidence and momentum would be low. If we did it yeh it would effectively be the same but it won’t happen that way imo.

Chelsea is a six pointer so is massive.

I think the players and staff would snatch your hands off for 10 points. I think they take 9 too.  They would target the home games just like us.

I do think we’ll need to win that last game to make sure.

I think villa, Forest and city have too many fixtures with teams that dont matter. Today's match is really important for villa not to win. As I can personally see them winning the rest.

If my theory is correct though it would mean that we should finally beat Brighton. I do worry for the arsenal match though.

Which is why it's key they don't win tonight - only game I see them dropping points is away to Bournemouth.  Spurs /Man U is six points gift wrapped

Whilst a draw isn't the end of the world I just think for some reason under pressure Man City will perform between now and the end of the season. Villa got a steeper hill to climb to catch us especially if they lose this evening

I’m not a betting man but I’m thinking about putting 40-50 quid on a Villa win. I think they will win, but if they don’t then it’s still been worth the money if they drop points.  It would be a payout of around 180 quid for a Villa win. Would rather see a City win tbh.

Yeah, after Chelsea beat Fulham I put a bit on the Forest/Villa double. The nightmare weekend that just won't stop  [emoji38]
