Yeah from that point of view it is definitely more important, but like Villa, it's one of those that if we can't win, it's just as important that we don't lose. That means we need to win four also. Our gd took a hit on Saturday They could lose or draw to Fulham & Bournemouth(A), all depends then on what Spurs and Man Utd teams turn up too..Impossible to predict any outcomes Edited Tuesday at 14:35 by johnny36

Fortunately Fulham and Bourenmouth tend to show up against the bigger sides and their away form isn't the greatest, until recently, so they should hopefully slip up there. Sibierski Posted Tuesday at 14:44 Share Posted Tuesday at 14:44 Man City win tonight is very much needed. We win our home games, it’s then huge pressure on Villa needing to be faultless against Bournemouth away, Spurs home and Man Utd away. Whilst they’re all off form for different reasons, they’re games that can still be tough. Then Chelsea have Forest away final game (with Man Utd and Liverpool at home) where again they have to be faultless to over take us.
midds Posted Tuesday at 14:49 Share Posted Tuesday at 14:49 If Villa knock out Palace in the semi final then that guarantees EL. I know it's not the competition we want to be in but if the footballing gods had offered you a trophy and EL football in August then there isn't a single Newcastle fan who wouldn't have snapped their arms off for that deal The absolute worst case scenario is shaping up to be EL - there's dozens of clubs who'd love to be in that position

Given the other 3 clubs in the semis all finish in the top 6 (Forest, City and Villa) then us and Chelsea get EL. I think anyway
Roids Posted Tuesday at 15:16 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:16 Ipswich, Chelsea + one other win more than likely gets the much coveted CL spot. Tough-ish run but all in our hands.

Chelsea might be at home, but they still have a lot of good players who could hurt us. Brighton probably less so, but I could just as easily see us winning down there as well. Ipswich is the easiest game on paper. We need to win those for confidence. I don’t think there’s a world where we lose at home to Ipswich and then go on to beat Brighton away. Confidence and momentum would be low. If we did it yeh it would effectively be the same but it won’t happen that way imo. Chelsea is a six pointer so is massive. I think the players and staff would snatch your hands off for 10 points. I think they take 9 too. They would target the home games just like us. I do think we’ll need to win that last game to make sure.
AngelofTheFourth Posted Tuesday at 15:51 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:51 I think villa, Forest and city have too many fixtures with teams that dont matter. Today's match is really important for villa not to win. As I can personally see them winning the rest. If my theory is correct though it would mean that we should finally beat Brighton. I do worry for the arsenal match though.

Tisd09 Posted Tuesday at 16:00 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:00 Whilst a draw isn't the end of the world I just think for some reason under pressure Man City will perform between now and the end of the season. Villa got a steeper hill to climb to catch us especially if they lose this evening

Ketsbaia Posted Tuesday at 16:10 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:10 Let's hope we don't need 3 wins, like. Really don't see that happening. Howay Man City
RodneyCisse Posted Tuesday at 16:26 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:26 Has everyone forgot how many games we’ve won recently? Villa was purely us being ran dry on the back of some really good form. We can rotate if needed, but one game a week with plenty of time to prepare there’s not an excuse.
Holloway Posted Tuesday at 16:35 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:35 A Villa win tonight is the next twist in the tightest of run ins. It's ok, that will leave us 4 ahead of Man city when we hump Ipswich
Ikon Posted Tuesday at 16:41 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:41 (edited) I’m not a betting man but I’m thinking about putting 40-50 quid on a Villa win. I think they will win, but if they don’t then it’s still been worth the money if they drop points. It would be a payout of around 180 quid for a Villa win. Would rather see a City win tbh. Scoot Posted Tuesday at 17:04 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:04 Hoping for a City win tonight. A draw after that. Don't want Villa winning. If they lose and we win Saturday, we're 5 points ahead of them with 4 to play. Come on City.
toon25 Posted Tuesday at 17:07 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:07 Personally don't think Ipswich will be as easy as initially anticipated. Nerves will be all over the place and reckon we perform much better when we're not expected to do well

timeEd32 Posted Tuesday at 17:46 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:46 Seems like a Villa v. Forest FA Cup Final would be ideal for a distraction and some added fixture congestion. Would also be nice for two non-Big 6 clubs to win both cups. It's only happened once in the PL era.
