Aye, if we're going to remove all context, including Liverpool's form throughout that season.

The point is that it ended up being a complete irrelevance because we did our job.

I think everyone agrees we need at least 68 points on the board this sesson to be in with a good shout. It's by far the most important factor here, as opposed to what other teams could and should do.

It feels a bit strange to as a Newcastle fan to have full confidence in the management and players to deal with the pressure and achieve top 5, rounding off what will have been an incredible season, especially so when you think of the lack of transfers to help with such a push. But that's where I'm at.

What I posted is a huge part of the same context tbf. If the context was that that Liverpool side under Klopp had no form for going on mad runs, it would never have been a concern.

Very different with nigh on every other team though, so don't think it applies at all this season with any team, not least because Villa have already just lost.

I don't buy this narrative that Liverpool wil get their flip flops out now they have won the league. They are not that type of club, they have a very demanding fan base. I think it's more likely that they'll play without any pressure now and really turn it on.

I think it may be slightly easier than if they needed the points, but I agree their players will not just sack off the rest of their games. There's no UCL final or FA Cup final to rest up for, and no international summer tournament.

Usually the phrase is that if you're not at 100% you'll lose in the Premier League. I think Liverpool might be at 95% but they'll still have enough to take at least a point off a misfiring Chelsea.

Mind you, I thought Chelsea would drop points at Fulham so what do I know?

Don't think Liverpool will let Chelsea beat them, not the sort of result they could stomach. Random loss to a mid-table club after title confirmed, sure, but not Chelsea imo.

I don't think the average footballer thinks about these things.

But if the same Chelsea as we've seen recently shows up then Liverpool can beat them without being near their best.

We might get some fringe players given a shot for Liverpool now that they have won the PL, but even their fringe players are top class. Could see Nunez bagging a couple of goals when there's less pressure on for example.

Salah at the very least will personally want to score and assist as many as possible before the end of the season, so we have that going for it at least.

Also yeah agree with someone above, said the same a few weeks ago but they seemed to be tightening up a bit trying to get the title officially over the line the last few weeks. Now they may be able to really relax again and play with freedom. A few lads playing for their futures as well with Liverpool no doubt wanting to freshen up the squad in the summer.

I think there is a good chance they beat Chelsea hopefully. We still need to do the business against Brighton and Chelsea ourselves of course.

Remember in 22\23 when people thought Liverpool would win circa ten games in a row?

Didn’t they win 7 out of 8? A loss or draw to Emery’s Villa that pretty much ended their hopes.

I think that many teams on 70 would be by far the highest score ever needed.

Nah one season Arsenal finished 5th with 70 points.  Think 8th had less than 50 points.

I like Nunez but he is not top class.

7 out of 10 I think it was.

Wherever we finish in terms of Europe, at least we've also got the Brexit Cup sewn up this season.

Looked at that list on Transfermarkt myself just the other day, we also got the oldest average squad age in the league.

Won 7 in a row then drew the last 2. The Villa draw the first one, was the nail in the coffin.

Is that not just a different way of saying they won seven of the last ten?
