The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

At the very least surely we're no longer looking at that Conference League playoff place anymore.

There's a game in hand of course but at present we're one defeat away from being back in 7th. Don't think anything is guaranteed at this point.

Through the looking glass a bit but could do with spurs and Man U going out of Europe so they have to try a bit harder in remaining league games to salvage season and play strongest team etc. plus obviously I don’t want them sneaking into the cl and getting away with having bad seasons.

edit obviously after Sunday.

I mean, that's just how time works, does it mean anything?

Just making the point to how tight it still is, to the poster saying europa league minimum now

Was also factoring in the fact that it's likely 7th would be Europa due to the FA Cup. Then again, after last season maybe not!

Is there a worry if that happens though, they just go through the motions as season is over? At least with Europe there's players playing for Cup Final spots and they still have a focus?

Yes could be. Just ran a few predictors and got forest third every time.

We will be back in 7th come kick off time v man u on Sunday

Villa and Chelsea are very likely to win but Man City v Palace could be absolutely anything. Wouldn't shock me to see Palace win that.

I wonder if we get Champs league this season, if it'll have the same effect on our premier league campaign next year. We have the same squad depth as back then.

And if so, how many seasons of being in and out of the champs league would it take for us to reach the point we can handle both?

Eight game form table.

No real standout teams there. Man City looked like they couldn't be arsed on Sunday. They still have great players but are not playing as the team they were. The "its the KDB farewell tour" news did not motivate them either.

9 goals scored (joint fourth worst) in their last eight does not bode well for Chelsea, who needed Brentford to miss a couple of sitters to get a point.

Villa improving, but still not convincing. Like Chelsea, if we avoid defeat to them, it will go a long way toward securing CL. Id actually quite like Villa to win the CL, they're likeable and there would be the bonus of them and Emery upstaging Liverpool.

We could have handled it OK last time but for our Group of Death draw.

Everton have to play us, Forest, City, Fulham and Chelsea.

They're gonna have a big say

Same with Palace. They play Forrest City, Arsenal, Bournemouth and us.

They actually play Villa as well, but that's in the FA Cup. Plus they play Liverpool last game of the season but that won't make much of a difference either way.

If Palace play their cards right and pick up points against those above them at the right time, they could easily sneak a European place and potentially win the FA Cup. That would be an outstanding season for any team.

Next two games can really put us in the driving seat. I fully expect a booze fuelled radged up st James on Sunday in what is still a big game - Tonali and Isak to shine. The Palace game is really tricky but if we can win that too things will be looking really positive and it takes the pressure off a bit going to Villa.

Talking to mates last night and the theme was Man City will hammer Palace on Saturday while Palace will be a difficult game for us the next Wednesday.

I suppose even with a great team our pessimism never goes away

I think we'll finish on 67pts. Which should be plenty enough to get 5th minimum.

So that's 14pts from a possible 24pts left available.

I'd say that's fairly reasonable considering the form we're in and the games we've got coming up. That does rely heavily on us winning the next two though.
