mighty__mag
I'd still prefer us to finish 3rd and Liverpool to sneak in over Man Utd.

How enticing do you think a Spurs-Liverpool play off for a Conference League spot would be? Or..Brighton vs Liverpool for a Champions League spot? BonesJones
My thinking is, if Man U finish 4th and us 3rd, we've done the whole finishing above them for the first time. If Liverpool don't make it, it will have more of an impact on one of our rivals than if Man U didn't make it due to their endless revenue. But to a degree they have been humbled (read shut out of the party by their city sibling and the problem of replacing the irreplaceable in Ferguson) but LiVARpool, with Teeth particularly have taken their place at the top of my annoying, entitled who do I want to lose more cunts list! Miggys First Goal
Brighton win their three remaining three games. Liverpool draw one and lose one of their two remaining games. Man Utd lose two and draw one of their remaining three games. Brighton finish 4th. Man Utd 5th. Liverpool 6th. wiseman
Would much rather manchester red then Liverpool finish 4th, Manchester have the financial backing to recover from missing champions league, Liverpool would suffer alot more for it, and are more likely to miss targets for it, and then struggle to recover. Also if Liverpool miss out Klopp may leave by "mutual" agreement and that would be great to see.
Matt1892
Liverpool’s ability to invest and rebuild will be hampered more by missing out on Champions League than Man Utd.

Kid Icarus
I think Liverpool are more likely to improve the most next season, so playing Thursday Sunday being a hindrance to them is better I think.
Geogaddi
I haven't forgotten the arrogance and self-entitlement the Man United fans showed before, during and after the cup final , I hope they lose every single game and Liverpool pip them to 4th. BonesJones
Don't think we should be looking at how we can annoy rival fans over what would benefit the club most.
Matt1892
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65443681 I found 6th and 7th difficult to predict, it is a three way race between Brighton, Spurs and Villa.

I don't hate the idea. The Champion's League is silly enough as it is, we should at least try and keep it as the creme de la creme competing in it. The change I'd make personally is to give a spot to the FA Cup winners or finalists, before defaulting to the league if they've both already qualified. That way, you could at least say that champions, or very high achievers, are going into the CL, and reinvigorate the FA Cup too. But having a mini tournament where every entrant gets some form of Europe is just silly to me. The idea that up until say 3 or 4 weeks ago that Chelsea were still eligible to be in the Champion's League seems insulting.

Erikse
He's saying that "Liverpool and Chelsea will wake up" as an argument for next season being so much harder to get top 4. They might wake up, but then some other teams might go to sleep aswell. Did Simon Jordan think before the season that Liverpool and Chelsea would perform like they have this season? Next year it might be one or two of the other "big 6" performing like that. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have all had their unexpected downfalls the last 10 years. Every season the argument is made that "but next season every team will perform"! The last 5 years the average requirement for top 4 has been 68 points, this season it might be 71 points! 71 points for 5th place would be the highest in 6 years. This season might actually prove to be more difficult to make top 4 than usual, contrary to the claims that it has been easier due to certain teams underperforming. Guest reefatoon
This is going to be Villa’s karma moment. All that arsehole behaviour when we went down at their place, they are now going to be the team that confirms our champions league place. Stifler
I’m pretty sure the Netherlands used to do a play off for their last Champions League spot and UEFA asked them to stop and now they do it for a Europa Conference League spot instead.
