Return after the next International break is going to be key to whether we get top 4 imo. We have:

Chelsea (h)

Man United (h)

Everton (a)

Spurs (a)

Get 7-9 Points from that and we'll be in a good place imo.

Some going we won all four of those last season.

We just need to stay in touch, the schedule isn’t always going to be this hectic.

Aye. Who knows where we'll be by April but the run-in is good. Possible six-pointers against Spurs and ManU followed by Sheffield United, Burnley, Brighton and Brentford to finish. If we're still in the race by then...

We're not there yet but just think about where we'll be in 3 years time man. It's been 4 transfer windows and look at the progress we've made in these last 24 months, it's been phenomenal. Give it another 4 windows and we'll be knocking the shit out of the 'establishment' teams on a regular basis. It'll happen, just give it time and be patient.

Villa just seem to have an easy fixture every weekend thesedays

That is how the fixtures have fallen, they have only played three teams that finished in the top ten last season so far and have Forest next.

They are very good at beating the teams you would expect them to beat, which is half the battle with getting a Champions League place.

Top 4 or not this season. I’m absolutely certain that we will be even stronger and better next season no matter what. Wee took 10 steps forward last season and sometimes you need to “take a step back” to take the next steps forward and in to even better things. By saying that I do not mean that we have been stalling or got worse. Just the nature of it in terms of an extreme amount of games, new experiences and routines, injuries, other teams taking us more seriously, and so on. All things considered we have done really well so far. I obviously hope we get to the CL because it would give us an extra boost financially plus making us even more attractive to players. Get top 6 and it’s still been an amazing season.

Looking at our team/squad right now. There’s an amazing togetherness and spirit. We have some real quality both starting players and bench. We lack in some areas when it comes to depth. Going forward now we need to go for that extra top top quality players. Players with that extra dimension technically and IQ, real difference makers. We have lots of physical players with great character and now it’s time to find the balance to get to that extra level. Technically top quality players but only good eggs that buy in to the current philosophy. Players with hunger and the right mentality. We have a very very solid foundation to build on from. We only need to polish minor parts. Get that extra quality in to “replace” some of the weaker starting players. Damn I’m proud and happy today HTL!

Our points total so far equates to 69 over a full 38 games; 2 points less than last season. It’s actually reasonably impressive given the tough start, but unfortunately 3 key teams had better summer windows than us and have really cracked on. We will need 75 points to make top 4.

Our rolling 38 game points total is rarely that low under Howe tbf. We're on 73 at the moment and that's about our average.

We've had a really tough start, so to be 5 points better off than last season is really impressive in the circumstances and I think we've got a really good chance of being right up there by the end of December.

It's also likely that 5th gets Champions League football this season.

Think we've put a bit of pressure on Villa with the win. They should beat Forest but it's an "icky" sort of game..

Nottingham are quite poor but they have some athletic players that can hurt them. IF will have a day off and Forest don’t then there could be a surprise result here. Head says 1-2

Had we kept our heads v Liverpool, West Ham and Wolves we’d be first place right now. There’s absolutely something about this team, like. How it equates over the rest of the season is obv anyone’s guess but I’m 100% behind this process.

Sure I can. I look at those 3 fixtures and say for 70+ minutes we had it spot on, and over time Howe will continue to iron out the issues that lead to those points dropped via tactics, players signed in future, tweaks in system etc.

We made mistakes, like all teams do and drop points because of it. You can’t just say what if. Otherwise you could say that most teams would have a lot more points on board too.  Well you can say it and think this and that but it just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Would have been different if we got say 3 penalties against us which weren’t pens.
