The fact Bournemouth are below us in the league suggests that if we've been inconsistent, they've been inconsistent

I thought they had a poor start under Iraola but they've improved steadily the longer he's been there?

After today. Not particularly confident of CL at all. Europa we have a great chance. Our home form against mid-table sort of sides and the performances to boot have been worrying.

The next 3 league games are brutal. Almost feels like we have more chance of a result against City than we do at home to Forest. As mental as that sounds.

I think they’ll cause us no end of bother with their counters and something feels massively off in a lot of our home games somehow.

Everything is flat. From collective and individual performances to the sleepy crowd.

Up to this point I have always been pretty confident we'll finish ahead of Forest and Bournemouth, I was more bothered about Chelsea and Villa. Now I'm revising that opinion, but we should get Europe in one form or another. Might see a couple of big stars moving if we don't make CL though.

That’s potentially true but I think those stars are bought in enough to realise that if they don’t make the champions league that might be on them.

I might be naive but there seems to be a collective responsibility there that they win together and lose together. And they owe it to each other to make it to the top.

No CL and at least 2/3 of the big three are off (Issak, Bruno or Tonali)

They may be ‘bought in’ but realistically they will want the opportunity to win things or at least play regularly in the ‘big competitions’.

Yep they will have been part of the squad that ‘failed’ to deliver but there’s little doubt they will be off imo.

Hopefully we do enough for European competition so we keep them but we are so inconsistent it’s not beyond possibility we fail to get any let’s be honest.

Really poor performance and result today. Really gutted 😞

The result today really done me in like.

Nothing is lost yet of course, and this season could still turn out to be a really special one, but I feel like we will get more results and performances like today mixed in with the good ones.

Apart from the 9 game winning streak, the inconsistency has really killed us.

Do any person(s) know the permutations that would give the EPL seven UCL places for season 25/26?

Five via the league.

English team wins the Champions League.

English team wins the Europa League.

But would that have to include the teams winning the CL and EL being outside the PL top 5?

i.e if Liverpool were to win the PL and CL, I don’t think 6th gets a CL place does it?

5 via the league, then an English club winning the Champions League finishing outside of the top 5, so most likely Aston Villa.

Then either Spurs or Man Utd winning the Europa League, safe to assume neither of them will finish in the top 5 either.

Start of season if you said Man Utd and Spurs would be bottom half, and us top half with 13 to go, you’d think we would be a banker for Europe.

Yet here we are :D Miss out on Europe last season because Man City turned up to the final pissed, going to miss out this season to Forest and Bournemouth :milner:

Wow. I thought there was a hard cap on the CL places. Max being 5

Spurs / Man U are favourites for Europa, so 6 is a real possibility

I take it we won't be playing in the Champions league next season, I hope Isak is OK with that.

We need to turn this run of form around, but we're still in with more than a punchers chance.

Next week is a big game, we can still reel Forest in and I expect our form to pick up after the cup final like it did two years ago. If we go 9 points behind them with Liverpool away next then it’s not looking great.

Whatever happens in the cup final, Europe probably goes down to 7th or we are in anyway. Still think we will get Europe but today was demoralising

we  just lost to Man City

This is incredibly reductionist. They were level on points and goal difference with us before today and have been poor for ages.

We were unacceptably pathetic. And have lost 3 of our last 4, with most of the performances in the league in 2025 quite shit. I understand if people are getting worried regarding top 4/5. If we lose to Forest I can’t see us getting top 4, can see us being adrift by the international break tbh.

They've just spent what £170m on some of the talent we wanted but couldn't

Would also mean that every other inconsistent team around us hits form as well. It's not even beyond us to not hit form until after the final and still get there.

Fulham and Bournemouth are in form and have nice fixtures up to the break. If Forest beat us they’ll be 9 clear of us.

I don’t know why we can’t hit form (or just not be shit) now. If it’s a mentality issue with a final on the horizon again that the squad and managing staff are unable to sort out, it’s disappointing as fuck. Then again, in January-February 2023 the league performances weren’t as bad as they have been so far in 2025.
