He consistently ignored Hall's overlap, consistently cut in to dead ends, and consistently failed to complete passes in the box. So many times he spent going back to our goal end.

He's a shadow of his best and he needs to change his personal training, because he's poor at the basics, now. If he doesn't get on top of it...he's going to fall very far. 

This is an Anthony Gordon issue, IMHO.

Edit: And I hope he gets on top of it.

He had a couple of great early moments down the line, TBF. He skinned their full back at one point. Cruyff turn through the legs.

I think hes been fine lately, but today he didnt take on his man once. Its supposed to be his A game. Not garbage, but not decent either I think. Difficult to single out one person when the whole team is struggling.

Naa. Was a fan of him coming in, and had his back, I wasn't one of those who hated the signing and never taken to him. It's been quite reverse for me, and it's down to attitude. Ever since we explored options to sell him to Liverpool he's been shite. He's selfish, arrogant and toothless. Now and then turns it on for England and CL games, but plays like we're beneath him, when the reality is he offers nothing.

 

I'm not the biggest fan of Barnes, but how Gordon gets the left position over him is one of the sickest jokes inflicted on us this season. He's barely good enough for the bench nevermind 1st name on the team sheet, and that's what Eddie seems to believe. 

 

I've had enough of him. I know as soon as I see his face what I'm going to see. He can't cross, can't beat a man, doesn't even cut inside with conviction, usually take a touch too many or goes too far in. He switches off, doesn't track back, and has a red card in him when you need him most. There's absolutely nothing there, and hasn't been for over a year now. That's not form, that's his level.

Look at the player threads after a game we have won. Even if it has been a bit fortuitous and we’ve not played well collectively.
 

They’re usually fairly quiet or they’re getting praise. Possibly undeserved

at times, even. They might have even played better in a draw or defeat. 
 

Results massively skew our perception of how they/we’ve played and how we then critique them. So you’re never going to get a balanced or objective view on the players after a shitty result. Most of them will just be guilty by association  
 

All that said. Pretty much all of them and the tactics were shite today

He's a big part of the reason we look so toothless. Offers absolutely no direct goal threat from open play and he's involved for at least 65 mins or more of every sodding match.

He can't ever seem to get the ball under control, it just like bounces off and away from him. He's not the only one who's like this mind you, seemed everyone was at it today, but with Gordon, it's every game. He's a really odd player, can be fast as fuck and tenacious and all of those good things, but often looks disinterested and poor technically.

I watched him quite closely today and what I found odd is he just jogged about a lot not really offering much, kept going in off his wing and offering no option.

 

The majority of his crosses today were poor, he is an absolute shadow of his best self.

 

I would have been livid had we sold him to Liverpool when they were previously sniffing about, as he was so vital to us, now, I don't think I'd raise an eyebrow.

If we had sold him we would have still had Anderson and Minteh. Hindsight is wonderful thing but could be one of the worst decisions we have ever made

I find him infuriating to watch and, to be honest, I’ve never really rated him even when he was contributing. 
 

He’s technically just not that good - as said above, his first touch is poor and his passing isn’t crisp or accurate.

 

As soon as we aren’t playing on the counter or have a low block, he become completely ineffective.

 

Frankly, if someone offered me £100m for all 4 of our wingers, I’d probably sell them all and start again.

To my mind, none of them are top 4 wingers. If we want to be a top 4/6 team on a regular basis, the overall level needs to go up pretty quickly.

I didn't think he was awful today but he's been contributing next to nowt for far too long. I'd listen to any decent offers for him. But tbh our whole crop of wingers is sorely lacking and is a huge part of why our attacking play is largely tragic.

This fucks me off so much. Barnes and Hall work together, Gordon seems to regularly ignore the overlap and make ponderous runs looking for an opportunity to fall.
