Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Nickson is brilliant at talent identification and Ashworth wanted to take him to Manure, luckily he likes his lifestyle up here.

Unfortunately, since Ashworth went his influence has waned, which culminated in the Howe’s overseeing a shit show last summer.

It’s to be hoped Wilson isn’t a patsy and exerts real influence this summer.

All good as more interest and more bidders hopefully gets the price to a more palatable amount than the Bayern Tyrekickers are offering.

Was Nickson's influence related that much to Ashworth? Wasn't he here and running before the takeover?

Got any sources for these claims? Genuinely haven't read this

So Bayern, Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal and Liverpool all interested in Anthony Gordon?

I very clearly am massively under-rating him.

Price war :tobey:

I mean, I don't think Barcola is that good so it's not 'that' ridiculous that Gordon could go there as a backup option for less important games, I suppose.

I’d take Barcola as his replacement

The Howe out brigade just spout any old shite man 😉🤪

Can't say I agree with that and my reply wasn't a gotcha. just genuinely curious to see where that came from.

Nickson was Ashley’s man to negotiate transfers, flew out to Atlanta to seal the Almiron deal, which was a big one for us at the time.

Just know Ashworth rates him,  it was Nickson who pushed for Paqueta and Bruno in first Jan window after takeover.

I know it's more convenient for all parties to sell early... However I think Gordon is going to have a decent World Cup....because he will put in the effort and be eager to impress. So his stock will rise and will have more suitors and think the club would kick themselves if they cashed in early and missed out on a chunk of profit.

If he's definitely going and Italy don't miraculously replace Iran like the media is suggesting then I'd say Tonali is the one to cash in early if they need to balance the books before that accounts deadline thing.

Those performances upfront in the Champions League have intrigued a lot of clubs it looks like.

When you see what PSG are able to get out of Dembele, despite his limitations, as a versatile forward that leads their press very effectively, I imagine they may consider Gordon as a rotation option for him, especially as Goncalo Ramos, who is being linked with Newcastle again, has asked to leave this summer.

People underrate what an impact performances in the UCL have on a player's value. Gordon was banging them in early doors and those are the games Europeans sides take notice of, they probably don't watch all the PL games.

Woof. Barcola is superb.

I can’t really say mate but despite the dig from the muppet above it’s definitely true. Ashworth is a big fan of Howe as well and they got on well. Think he just didn’t have as much autonomy as he thought when taking the job, more to do with PCP why he left and of course the Mancs are a big draw unfortunately.

We better get more than 75mil Euros - that's way too cheap.

Honestly, yesterday I thought getting £70m would be good, but with so many too clubs supposedly interested, we have to use that to push up the price (but also get the deal done before the world cup).

Out of interest why do you think it should be before the World Cup? I feel his value will go up by getting global exposure, not down?

Well, for one I don't think he'll be starting in the world cup, so I don't think it'll help his exposure at all. And for second, because after the world cup is not a long time before the start of the season and I am guessing the club won't be able to sign a replacement until they've definitely got a deal in place. So it'll just mess up our preparation.

This is good, this speculation only helps us.

I feel like Tuchel likes him and he seemed to be picking him ahead of Rashford in a few games in the season. He also seemed to raise his level (or level of opposition was weaker) in the England games.

So yeah as I mentioned earlier I think he will have a decent tournament and I think his value would rise.

But yeah there is knock on of it potentially impacting our business but it shouldn't do if the club worked smartly. Which they probably won't based on last summer.
