Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Gordon is not a number 9. Running quickly is not the only feature required from a no 9.

Agreed, doesn't smell goals in the box like a proper striker does.

Wants to get involved in build up and play nice neat 1-2's and balls round corners. Goalscorers don't care for that one bit

You post Goldbridge, you automatically lose.

Forest fan anyway, right?

Allegedly. He's the ultimate rage bait for views type of personality. Now a Gary Neville mouthpiece as well.

Not sure what to think about Gordon and he’s a player I liked from the outset. He can be effective but he can also be extremely one dimensional, he’s can bust a gut but can also look like he’s dialling it in. Watching him try to connect with a cross is sometimes baffling.

I’m sure we’ll miss the version of him that’s interested but his reputation is probably ahead of his overall effectiveness at the moment. Great move for him though.

After a night's sleep I think we will definitely miss elements of his game not found in the current squad his energy/running/ stamina is something which while  he can turn on and off when he wants to its a quality that we lack.

Osula has the energy but even less control to his limbs than gordon so may well be the future outlet when we need that turn of pace or willing runner.

Just praying we recruit well his replacement needs to be able to start games not a project player.

This is where I’m at tbh. We’re probably leaving £10m on the table here but it’s done quickly, it’s clean and everyone keeps their dignity.

FWIW, I reckon he’ll be excellent over there and it’s a great move for him.

Agree. I thought the fee was quite low, but a lot depends on how we spend the money. If we get that right instead of spectacularly wrong like last summer, then it can still be a good deal.

That does put the focus on Ross Wilson now though. He's negotiated a quick deal to get it done. Now he has to use that money wisely.

This deal feels like it almost went too smooth. Makes me think that we’re signing Abde Ezzalzouli from Betis. Barca have a rather big sell on percentage. Just guesswork

It's actually logical why this happened. Obviously Mitchell had the recruitment department which he obviously ran looking for the type of targets we are ironically looking at this summer. He wasn't trusted and was turfed out so we dusted off the old scouting files and ran with them.

Makes perfect sense that tbh

I thought his allround play at 9 was pretty good. He terrifies the opposition with pace, has high shot volume, gets into many goal scoring positions, presses like a bastard, draws many fouls/wins many penalties, and initial signs for linkup play with Woltemade were good, for the very short time they played 9 and 10 together. The glaring issue is that he's currently a poor or very poor finisher.

He's young, so this could go either way. Barca have way more goals in their team than we do, so they can be more patient with him hitting air shots than we were. For us, that might be the only clear chance we get all game.

Kvaratskhelia went for around the same price.

Gordon is nowhere near his level.

I think we’ve had Barca to the cleaners on this personally.

And if Anderson, who has achieved far less, leaves Forest it'll be for £100m+ apparently...

This is depressing as hell, come to Newcastle when you're young and maybe one day you can move to a team like Barcelona. Should be using Bruno as an example, come to Newcastle fall in love, become a legend, be remembered forever and always be welcomed back like a hero.

Loyalty in football died a long time ago.

It is what it is.

Thank him for the memories and best of luck at your new club.

We move on to the next...

They’re not fans they’re employees, I’m still not sure how folk can’t get their head around that.

Agree with this but it works both ways really. One poor season and suddenly some of our own fans are telling players to leave the club or acting like they’re not good enough anymore. Hard to preach loyalty and “become a legend here” if players feel disposable the minute things dip a bit.

I lost faith in Gordon when he complained when his move to Liverpool didnt happen, he admitted it took him ages to get his head right.
