Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Recommended Posts

Other than his shop window performances in the CL last season he hasn't been a £78m+ player for us for a couple of seasons so yes, it is a good deal.

Now let's get to rebuilding Eddie's team with the proceeds.

Transfermarkt is just run by regular people. They don't have any special insight. I think we can take it as pretty certain it's €70M + €10M.

I think he means that’s what his value is on Transfermarkt. Not what this deal is worth.

Not sure I believe that he's "turned down" Liverpool but if he has, a wee bonus point for him as he's leaving.

When you compare with the cunt who left late last summer the fact he's going a) early, b) abroad and c) for a price we're happy with means we're much more likely to remember that great season he had and some of his more positive contributions in say ten years time, rather than the 18 months+ where he's only tried a leg in certain games and used pens to pad an overall bad end product.

There's an interview clip floating around from earlier in the season saying he's been learning Spanish so I can believe he preferred them. I think this generation of players have broader horizons than the generation that preceded them.

My guess is, he's likely seen Barcelona as a once in a lifetime opportunity. If he went to Liverpool and smashed it they'd want an insane fee to let him go. Didn't they want touching £200m for Salah in his pomp? Contrast that with Barcelona who may be far more open to doing a deal if he does well. By the same token, if he stinks the place out, he's still proven in the Premier League and Liverpool might fancy a cut price deal.

Cannae wait to watch Gordon spout wanky platitudes and exercise that big, ponderous faux-philosophical brain.

Do wonder how Barca fans feel about this generally. Still a bit surprised we're getting £70 odd mil and Gordon is getting £300k/wk. Rashford loan option was like €30m. Mental.

Not sure anyone chooses Liverpool over Barcelona.

Yeah, and it's always great whenever they can be reminded of that, because they're full of it.

Rashford did quite well for us, but he was the type of player to score the third in a 3-0 game, if you know what I mean. Flick probably sees Gordon as potentially having more impact.

Also Rashford had lower fee, but his agreed salary was higher to what Gordon's getting apparently.

Not sure he'll get you the first but hes likely to win the penalty that gets your first goal of a game.
