In games where we might be bogged down, like the games against Palace last year as it happens, Bruno off his game or whatever, think Gordon still threatens, runs at people, pulls them out of position and propells our lads into the space and yes, the odd free-kick won. ASM is a really talented player but you can see with Gordon the team fluidity is so much better - his pressing is brilliant - makes a lot of unselfish runs - seems his decision making is of a higher level too plus love his attitude - yesterday was just a stroll in the park for him

Could he become a Rob Lee type. Interesting thought. Mad to think rob lee only blossomed about 28 or 29. Hard to judge with Rob lee because for me there was 2 great Rob lees, the attacking midfielder goalscoring type and then later the midfield general. Sean is somewhere in-between I think. He's certainly a better bet to get a goal than bruno as hes our anchor. Lee Clark was a very intelligent player, a cog in the original entertainer's, but I think seans game is more expansive especially with what is expected of you now as a PL midfielder, eg longstaff covers more ground

Hanshithispantz
Absolutely unrepentant what they were doing to his barnet in Merseyide like. Geordie Ahmed
I've watched it a few times now but that turn he does in the build up for the Wilson header chance is brilliant His ability to take the ball and move infield in one touch is such an asset, that combined with his pace He'll score goals simply because of the positions he'll take up but if he can improve his finishing he could easily be getting close to 15 league goals across a full season and that's what he should be looking to do

Remember him saying in an interview when he signed that he can't really grow a beard. Would solve alot of his problems though for sure.

They did rob us for £40M at the time. The player we bought was not worth £40M at the time, im not sure he would have been a starter in this Everton side this season if he stayed on. What Eddie Howe has done with him is simply a miracle! He keep getting better by the game, his movement, pressing and every other aspect of his game has really improved! Watching the Amazon documentary you realised how bad Howe wanted him and probably paid 10m too much. It was only at that point that I realised I'd be proved completely wrong about him, simply because of the determination of Eddie and the club to bring him where other deals we've probably walked away instantly Also the documentary give you more personal access to the player, who comes across really likable and a genuinely nice person even with all the negativity thrown at him at everton. I think a lot of us thought we were buying some ill tempered horrible rat who wouldn't fit in. We were so wrong again.

Not that it really matters. From the outside looking in, it was a bit of a gamble for that price at the time of the transfer, but I doubt anyone would say he wasn't worth the price now. ponsaelius
He's so good. He's made me look a right mug. I compared him to Callum Mcmanaman ffs. Tbf I was fully converted to pro-Gordon by the U21 euros.
Superior Acuña
Love him on the pitch and love his enthusiasm in interviews. I was one of the more positive people but he's surpassed my expectations substantially, one of my favourites.
Ste
I trust Eddie and the transfer team if they want a player. We’re not used to short and long term transfer policies at this club.
Smal
He's certainly changed my mind on him now, like. I think him and Burn have a very good relationship on the field too. I don't think it's a coincidence that Burn has looked better overall this season; both with and without the ball. Gordon always seems to find space for Burn to pass to him in a way Joelinton or ASM couldn't in that position..

Last year, he was very, very functional but he basically just formed the 3 CBs line most of the time but then started to make a few more runs up the touchline in the second half of the season. This campaign, he's popping up in lots of places while still being decent defensively. He's actually contributing to build up play far more than just some decoy runs. I'd love to see his attempts to whip in an early cross

I'd love to see his attempts to whip in an early cross agreed but yeah, I'm not sure I want to see him crossing to be honest He seems to get himself into the box for crosses a bit which makes sense and is impressive since he's usually involved in the first bit of build up too. Even when not in the box he's camped on the edge of it (usually in the centre) to help sustain pressure. Been enjoying watching him a lot. It speaks to how Howe keeps introducing new things to stop us from being predictable. Edited October 23, 2023 by Smal
