Barnes23
I love the work our recruitment team has done post-takeover overall, but I have to say I think finding a superior player to Gordon for LW would be very difficult indeed. He belongs with Bruno and Isak as players we should be looking to keep if it is any way possible to do so

But Newcastle United have nothing to do with that. Can you find another term to use? That word is not cool.
black_n_white
Flat out offer of £100 million and the club will accept. Wasn’t there rumours we wanted Quansah as part of any deal?
GeordieToon
Never selling Gordon, They would have to get past the Mitchell’s first not going to happen.

They already have about 5 LWs. It would be nice if slot turned into the Kenny dalglish that came to Newcastle and sold Salah for 2m because he doesn't track back and brought in des Hamilton. Also if you had the other additional damage that sent us back to the stone age

Andy
No doubt the interview didn't go down well, he veered away from what was clearly a very deliberate party line, the interviews with Walker, Kane etc prior to that were bizarrely out of touch and overly positive after the dreadful performances. It was all a very clear attempt at manipulating positive PR.
Monkey Alan
Given his comments about VAR a few months ago and this latest interview gaff, it may be that he needs more media training. I'll get you started Anth: We weren't at our best today, there's more a lot more to come - We were shit. We fully support the gaffer - We're on holiday 'til he's gone. Yeah obviously... - Sentence opening particle
St1pe
I think it’ll only play into our hands the way Southgate has mismanaged him. He’ll be desperate to stick two fingers up to him once the season kicks in. I could be wrong but read his partner just recently gave birth? It must be rough being taken away from your new child to sit on the bench for a tournament
Sibierski
Would understand a bit more if Eze was on fire off the bench, but he’s dished up two proper poor cameos now whilst Gordon had 4 mins, and played a ball which Eze hasn’t done yet. Fezzle
All set up for a Gordon winner in the final. How many people have to get injured first is a mystery
Ikon
He won’t get a single minute unless there’s injuries. I would be massively surprised if he gets any more minutes whatsoever. Stubborn boring coach. He changed the “formation” but it was more or less exactly the same setup as before in every way but on paper. No width on the left, Everything in central areas apart from Saka out wide at times. Slow, no mevement, everyone wants to be the playmaker and not really making runs with or off the ball. Pure shite to watch. Edited July 7, 2024 by Ikon
ATB
Feeling for Gordon, but good for us. Not only because whats already been said, but also because we wont have a summer of media pushing for a sale to Pool and Manure etc after a granted strong tournament (he´s just perfect for that left wing position). Checko
Southgate might obviously just prefer Eze to him, perhaps he fits the mould of a more patient, posession-based team. But you'd think Gordon's pace and directness would be a nightmare for defenders to be up against, especially when they're in extra time and already tired. Being honest in his interview probably didn't help his case, but he also only had 5 mins of game time anyway and Eze was given first dibs. I do wonder if there's an element of 'Everyone's calling for him to play and I've refused, and we've been underwhelming again, and again, and again. If I put him in now and he does well then I look like a fool for being seemingly the only person not to spot it.' so better not play him.
SiLvOR
Reeks of Pardew refusing to play Ben Arfa until there was no choice. Gordon will be an England regular once Southgate fucks off, no doubt about it Edited July 7, 2024 by SiLvOR

Holloway
Has to be stubbornness on Southgate's part, he's exactly what the team needs in those later situations when they're struggling to make any attacking inroads, it's baffling like
Geordie Ahmed
Didn't watch the full game but it was strange seeing a 5 min spell where Palmer was wide left trying to beat a player on the outside, which is not his game and it's exactly what Gordon excels at doing I do think it's stubbornness from Southgate, if he gives Gordon decent minutes and he looks a threat then it makes Southgate look like a bigger doylem
