The stories that were coming out about his head being a mess didn’t tally with the type of character we know Gordon to be. Downing tools is not in his nature. He didn’t even do it at Everton when he very easily could have (on the pitch I mean, obvs he kind of forced a move).
Kanj
Really weird seeing the articles saying otherwise; all of them saying his head was turned and he wanted to go to boyhood club, etc. Love how he gives full, direct answers to every single question. Super Duper Branko Strupar
It's almost as if sports journos will print owt for gullible mugs with too much to say on the internet to click, retweet, reply and optimise. Each to their own I guess.

Yorkie
So fucking happy that he feels like 'ours' again, which is something I felt really strongly about last season, with him thriving at Newcastle after all that shit at Everton. Supporting England was fully tarnished for me this summer because it felt like the two people representing this club I love so much were as good as being gone. So buzzing about everything AG10 atm. Stottie
Over to our friends at Opta Analyst Quote Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon has won seven penalties in the Premier League since the beginning of last season, at least four more than any other player (Raheem Sterling – 3). https://theanalyst.com/eu/2024/09/newcastle-vs-man-city-stats-premier-league-live

There’s been a lot of talk about your future. You didn’t look like a player that has been unsettled in that moment”. AG “No, I haven’t been (gives a bemused laugh). It’s quite hard as a player because you can’t really come out and say anything you just have to get on with stuff and focus on what’s important. I think fans can be guided by journalists, which is hard. I’ve never been in doubt here since the first day I came back for pre-season. It’s been quite hard for me that people have that perception of me (that he wanted to leave) at the minute, so that celebration was just to clarify that that’s not the case. I was planning that celebration and giving the fans that message for while but I hadn’t scored (at home) until today”. “Heads a mess” rumours well and truly put to bed with no supper. Said he was almost in tears at the wor flags display. Eddie Howe pretty much came out and said it had been. Gordon isn’t likely to say ‘yeah, when I was touted to my boyhood club, who are also English football’s most successful one, it never entered my head that I’d fancy the move’. That also doesn’t mean that he isn’t happy here. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

They were still living together and at the Southampton game they both seemed very much together. Obviously that’s now moved on.
