England’s Anthony Gordon

Massive overreactions in this thread. We’re told there aren’t PSR issues this summer so why sell? Because he’s had a dip this season?

His performances and goals against Arsenal twice in the league cup were crucial. He’s a good player and will have a great year next season.

Whenever they lose a game a load of people go totally overboard

We have 14-15 players who I reckon are CL players. The depth is pretty poor. We could probably get to 17-18 this summer without a sale as it is, but he plays in a position where there's a lot of talent for £15-20m less than we could sell him for, meaning we could get a few more in. Could be the difference between a top 4 challenge and title challenge.

Would not be surprised in the least if he moves on during transfer window, seems to have these spells of brilliance for a code of seasons before he hits wall, I think he's at the wall now, gets bought and goes on another 2 Yr spell with elsewhere.

No-one is offering £90m when Eze is £55m. But then if people melt themselves over body language, they’d be in a coma within a few months with Eze.

It's why I think if we can get £70-80m for Gordon we'll take it. There's a bracket of players like Cunha, Semenyo, Eze, etc in the £50-60m bracket where you get a very good replacement and money for wages/fees elsewhere. Trying to do similar for Bruno, Tonali, Isak would be a helluva lot harder.

Exactly! If there are all these replacements available for less, why aren’t clubs buying them instead of Gordon?

Also he’s been involved in two summer tournaments and probably needs a break. Summer off and full pre season and he’ll be flying again next year.

I'd start him vs Everton. Think he's got a point to prove after a poor spell and that missed penalty at Goodison.

This is true but I'm not sure having a point to prove is when he's at his best. Seems to be at his best when he feels he's on top of his game and feels he's the best player on the pitch.

I'd like us to go back to our usual formation Sunday and try and over run these, if Isak is fit Gordon to drop to the bench if not, as suggested play him up top instead of Wilson. I would love for Wilson to turn in one last performance he just doesn't have it in him.

Yep he’s an excellent fit for Eddie and our team.  But he’s no better than Eze or Cunha, no reason for a club to pay £20m more for Gordon.

Gordon isn’t even consistent with the work rate which is a differentiator from those types of players.

I’d start Willock over Miley. Willock is better suited to an early high press game

Yeah, I’ve said it a bunch but Miley was a 10 in the academy, it’s off the ball where he struggles defensively. Hes very good on it, and 9/10 makes a good decision. But he’s played round too easily in the midfield. It’s a shame as I really like him as a player

Semi-regular England international, CL experience, long term contract and age. I could see Arsenal or Liverpool fishing for not far off that price. We're in a position where we already have a very good LW and could go for someone like Eze who is also very good and who I think could be as good as Gordon was for us last season. That extra £15-20m profit could be worth a very good other player or two to pad out the squad PSR-wise.

If Bryan Mbeumo is available for a decent price we should be all over him whilst trying to maximise AG's sale price. Could leave us in an excellent position financially with a more balanced squad. Just need a Willock upgrade who can also play on the left, which we should already be looking at anyway.
