...And then they could sponsor us, with some nice black and white stripes to go on our black and white stripes.

That would be one reason why the PL are shooting themselves in the foot here. Pretty sure we were the most watched league in the first place due to having the money to attract so many big names, not to miss out on the likes of Mbappe or make everyone have to sell.

Could UEFA/Premier League do anything about a scenario where a Saudi company wanted to pay £200m a year because, "It's worth that commercially in Saudi Arabia to have Kylian Mbappe play in the Premier League for a Saudi Arabian owned club"?

Obviously I've inflated money and player ability just as an example.

You could make that argument and test it, not that we would. Thing is with footballers, it also comes down to image rights as much as ability, for global shirt sales etc etc. It's one reason why I really can't fathom how FMV is supposed to work in practice.

The PL has never had the biggest names - since the PL breakaway, a player playing in England has won World Player of the Year just once.

Marketing, more entertaining play, and packed stadiums are as much behind it as anything.

Its taking speculating to accumulate out of the equation. What would have gone on with Rangers when they were in the 4th tier in Scotland for example. Is it fair a 4th tier club gets more sponsorship than Ross County in the top tier or is it fair that a club that gets 44k gets more advertising money than a club that gets 4k.

That's exactly how the big clubs and UEFA want it unfortunately.

And it's basically the raison detre of the CL which went from the unpredictability of a cup format to a league, then did away with qualifiers because the English (and one other big league club eg OM and Barcelona) clubs kept getting knocked out in the prelims (we were the first not to be), to runners up can enter, to 4th place can enter to this carry on next season.

Until there’s a legal challenge against FFP/FMV/PSR or whatever the fuck they want to call it we will never compete at that level or the PL for that matter. Get used to it, the elite clubs won’t change the rules, why would they?

"One of the reasons it is not fun is because we are not seeing games like PSG v Manchester City at the moment - we aren't seeing the big games yet," Rzouki told Euro Leagues. "It is either the big games or the fairytale story, which was Ajax, Atalanta, Inter before."

Two of the most successful teams in European history there. Fairytale indeed.

Yep.  Seven European Cups between them, but we want to see matches between two clubs who until last season hadn’t won a single one.

So much for fair fucking play………..and some on here don’t think legal challenges should be made!! System is completely rigged in favour of the so called elite. Coefficients have always been a scam.

Didn't someone work out that if we'd had the same record through the tournament as Man City and we beat them in the final they'd still get a load more "prize" money than we would ?

I know that someone worked out that we could win the Champions League by winning every game, and if wasn't for the fact that the winners get put into pot 1, we’d likely still not have enough coefficients to get out of group 4.

He estimates our total prize money at £29m. Add in three home games and the whole venture is probably worth around £40m for us. Quite a big gap to fill next season.

£37m per the club's notes in the accounts. Doesn't specify if that is only UEFA money or also includes matchday income for those games, but I've been assuming it's everything as it lines up better with other estimates.

£8m from three home games seems a little light? The cheapest tickets were about £60.
