Not totally against anchoring TBH. Nor a version of PSR if everyone had the same limit within their division and a safety bond in place to protect the club long term.

That seems completely reasonable. Same limit, none of this you get this and they get that limit. Safety bond seems to address sustainability.

That's like me saying "I haven't called the police on my neighbor yet, I am still poking around looking for something he's done".

‘They haven’t won owt yet.  And they better not’

Except in Spanish

That Stefan Borson, City Fan and PSR 'expert' has attempted to explain this RM blokes beef, and where this might/could go...

TLDR summary...

It is very unlikely there is anything in this latest Tebas rant/story. That said should live cases against City and PSG go against the clubs, the risk of investigation would obviously greatly increase.

Aye the local government/council have been very cooperative with the club in the past. A new training ground rings a bell and land sold off to pay for it? Some sketchy shit definitely

Something like the council bought their training ground above going rate then let it back for a peppercorn rent.

Yeah, something like that. It was extremely convenient for Real. Village Idiot is the one to ask tbh

Still be a fairly easy paper trail to track, given what went on with Enron. All huff and bluster cos RM and Barca aren't the top teams anymore

Also weren't City the first team to withdraw from the Super League, wouldn't be surprised if it's a little payback.

This was 25 years ago.

They made a nine figure sum selling their training ground to the govt, and got to rent it straight back on the cheap.  You’re right, it was 25 years ago - when they’d won seven European Cups (and only two in the previous thirty-nine years).

They’ve since won another EIGHT European Cups.  So I reckon that training ground sale might’ve been pretty advantageous.

Wrong.

- they won 8 CLs prior.
- they money raised wiped the debts and helped fund the galacticos era when they won 1 CL - the very next summer.

- they sold the land the training ground was on. The land was in the financial district of Madrid

- the land was sold to private companies not ‘the government’

No, not ‘wrong’.  The deal was made early in 99/00 - when they’d won seven (56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 66, 98).  I know my European Cup years.  It was put through in 2001 - it took time to work its way through govt (local and national).

The deal was made with the Spanish govt and local authorities - who paid £290m (!).  Madrid had racked up £177m of debt by that point.  They eventually built a new training centre a few years later.

They received the money in 2001, after winning their 9th CL.

the land was sold to to private companies. Madrid agreed to some government stuff to facilitate the sale but the sale was an open bidding.

West Ham’s stadium deal is far more ‘suspect’.

Sorry TCD, not the case.  Best not to rely on that dodgy Wikipedia page on this one.  And they won their 8th in 2000.
