Lotus
Archie Gray is a good example of a very talented 18 y/o. Miley needs game time to up his level and develop. If he’s not looking getting many meaningful minutes with us I’d like to see go on loan in Jan.

James
Route to first team is more congested this year unless we have an injury wave. as others have said a loan to Boro would be ideal.

He doesn’t need a loan - better to train with Bruno and Sandro and be coached by a group that clearly know how to develop players It’s the likes of Parkinson et al that need a loan to see if they really have the quality to make it

Smith was an excellent young forward at Leeds, where he won most of his caps - he was well worth all of them. He didn’t win any being a shit midfielder for us. He's still in the "i don't know what type of player he is," bracket, because he's young and I don't know which part of his game is going to be the highlight. For me what stands out the most is his maturity. Alot of young players try and play the game at a million mile an hour, Miley is clean and crisp. His short range passing is superb, his decision making is great. I'd refer back to that assist to Isak last season. Of course there are areas of his game we haven't seen yet. Can he make well timed runs into the box? Can he show defensive discipline? Plenty of time for all that but really looking forward to seeing more of him. One thing is for certain, he couldn't have better mentors in Bruno, Tonali and of course Eddie Howe. He’s better than Longstaff and Anderson were at that age, but he isn’t better than either of them at present. He wouldn’t start ahead of them. Benwell Lad
The kid has had quite a tough introduction to his professional career and first team football. Last season, due to the injury crisis, he played far more than was ever intended. 15-20 minutes in relatively comfortable games would have been the ideal development path. Due to his own injuries (both quite freak) and our incredibly strong midfield department he's played less than he should have since then. It will be frustrating for him. Getting those minutes at the weekend will have given him a huge boost. It's crazy to debate how far a player so young can go. Anything can happen, but he's a very level headed kid, never cocky or brash, and everyone who has been involved in his development over the years at NUFC and the England set up would tell you that he has everything in place to be a top, top player. Sibierski
You only loan players who are young, if you either 1) need to see if they can perform at a certain level and 2) with a view to coming back or to be sold. Miley we already know is good enough so never going out on loan.
AyeDubbleYoo
Seems like loans are mainly used to stockpile players you really should sell.
Lotus
Loans should be used to give players exposure and experience to different types of systems, physicality, pressure and levels of competitiveness. Training with excellent players doesn’t automatically make you an excellent player too anymore than sparring with top rate boxers automatically makes you a top fighter. You’ve got to do it yourself in the environment of serious competition. It Miley is behind JL, Longstaff and Willock (given I expect Bruno & Sandro to start if available) then minutes could be difficult for him.

I do think loans are to shop window players, while keeping a player in training you can mould them how you want.
