Was very good today, as always

Yep solid, his passing is always on point, quick release, good vision but I liked his harrying of Palmer, that skirmish him and Livramento won down the left side at one point and his headbutt into Caicedo. Also, the improvement in his defensive and positional discipline is night and day from last season, covers similar positions to Longstaff, can definitely see the effects of coaching from 17>18>19. He's not quite there for serious minutes but all good signs, loan is a trash idea.

100% disagree with all of that, i thought he looked class on and off the ball

Closes passing lanes down well but is off it in the press. He doesn’t press with intent to maybe win it.  Doesn’t make (m)any interceptions.

I thought the game passed him by, personally. I know they had 10. But their system must be hard to press against and they have some quality players on the ball. So I can sort of understand it when he has come off the bench and we have changed formation mid-game.

He was playing against two players who cost £100 odd mil each and arguably the better one of the 3 in Lavia. Who was a bargain at £50 odd mil.

Big learning curve for him.

None of our midfielders have high interceptions, our press usually gets tackles/turnovers instead...which Miley is comparable to the others re: stats. His long legs give him deceptive speed/reach.

I think in our midfield 3 setup you need to be more aggressive.

Think his potential is massive.  But I think we need another top option at CM for the CL next season. Or Miley needs a big step up next season.  Longstaff, Willock and Miley are currently levels below the big 3.  If  Joe isn’t in there we look better in a back 5.

Barely touched the ball for the first 10 mins he was on.

Really need to add some aggression and risk taking into his game.

Not a great comparison but you  look at Wharton at Palace and he's always influencing the match,  not letting it drift by

Think he was onto a loser coming on in how we were 2nd half. We were sat deep and had no interest in keeping ball, everyone was being dribbled past with ease. Was often having two against him too because Barnes was fucked on that side.

Wharton is 3 years older and has way more exposure.

He’s also play equivalent of 3 league games after today. Like that’s a proper shite return and I’m sure he would’ve been hoping for more exposure. Still trust Howe has a clear plan in mind for his pathway into side and him being 5th choice at worse next season, not the 6th he’s been this season. Like we sign this summer (if Longstaff / Willock go), a young raw CM that’s clearly 6th choice and someone who’s first team ready in their mid 20s.

It's not a pefect comparison but they've both played the same amount of games in the Prem

Miley would beneift from a loan in the Championship but it doesn't look like we'll be able to do that

it’s very clear to me that he’s a final third player. You can see it with that pass to Barnes again, and his ability to keep the ball around the box through top decision making and technical ability to match.

he is poor in duels and defensive awareness, so struggles when he plays further back like he did for the first 15 minutes before swapping with Bruno.

You doubling down on the basis of today? He was good. Should've had an assist and put in a good shift off the ball.

Looked good,Didnt make any glaring mistakes either and came out on top in the duel with Caicedo at the end

Potential is there

We was mainly sitting in when he came on, yet people are complaining about his pressing. The 1 main time he pressed Palmer just had to roll it backwards, because he had no out. No-way should he go on loan, especially not to the Championship. He'll get plenty of minutes next season

The Kid is 19 and was thrown into a very odd game  where most of the senior players were off, i don't think he looked too bad and we've already seen enough of him to show that he can be relied on to start.

Jamie Mclens performance was better anything Miley has ever produced v Arsenal

0-0

Many moons ago ….!

Matty Longstaff V Man United looked great too

Miley reminds me of both

I played with Jamie everyday in training and he was a good player but not good enough for the first team

Miley will end up in the championship but might get a premier league move beforehand(do ok) before being benched ….and will drift down to championship

Most premier league teams have similar youth players that will drift in , then drift out and have lots of ability (but not that X factor)

Can’t believe some of the comments I’m reading in here mind 😅

The kids played hardly any football this season but come in today was very neat and tidy, never gives the ball away, absolutely clattered one of their lot , pressed really well at another stopping them from getting out and from the sounds of it slipped Barnes in for the chance he balls up. He was on about 25-30 minutes right?

Some people man…

Eddie has repeatedly said this kid has the World at his feet, he knows better than any numpty on here giving him a hard time.

Miley was utter class against PSG in the CL.

I can’t agree with the comments giving him high praise nor criticism tbh.  Looked ok, nothing of note, game passed him by a wee bit, but there were little hints of the lad’s talent from time to time

We are in desperate need of a new CM. Maybe 2.

For me - Miley’s a long way off it atm.  He’s got great size and technique but he needs the rest of the game to mature. Particularly off the ball he’s a non factor. He needs to snap into closing down and meaningfully try to nick it. Joelinton’s obviously the master of that - Bruno and Tonali are elite at it too. Willock isn’t as intense but he also is great at the odd interception. Longstaff good at it too.   Anderson has been great at it for Forst this season. Miley gives his man a fraction too long on the ball.

Maybe he can get to the level via training.

Yep. this game was a bit too much for him, he didn't play much of a role in keeping Chelsea at bay when they were pushing up in the second half. Lovely player when he gets time, but today wasn't that sort of game.

You have a real blind spot with Miley like, it's bizarre. Were you working lates when PSG away was on?

He was totally uninvolved for ages after coming on. He just doesn’t get minutes here let alone starts.
Looked like bags of potential when he first came through but now just looks off the pace all the time.
Lots of people keep saying loan moves are a rubbish idea and he’ll just get better and better by training with us and barely playing. Don’t think there’s much that can compare to actual game time tbh.

We’re not a team that likes rotation (non injury related) so I’m not sure how much he’ll play next season if get another CM in.
Guess the club will make up their mind about that but I think getting around 30 starts at some club (could be us….) will quickly improve him and give everyone a better idea what his trajectory might be.

He wasn't involved much in the 10 or so minutes after coming on but then he started to get into the game a bit more and did so well in the end.  We barely had the ball in that second half so it's hard to judge him on today really.
