No need to be defensive. I've attended hundreds of matches. When I'm there I sing more than most. Even the commentators were on about how loud the Liverpool fans were. It is what it is.

I’m not at all being defensive. How on earth can anyone who wasn’t at a game comment on how the atmosphere was? They can certainly have an opinion on how it “seemed”

BTW I’m nearly 70, sat in most areas over the years, watched the great the good and the bad and get fed up seeing the finger pointing at fans that goes on here, especially annoying is the “well the atmosphere was crap” from folk who’s reference point is via the microphones of broadcasters.

All I did was give an opinion of how it seemed to me on Amazon.

I was there

90% of the ground was shit. Just like most weeks

People don't need to be at the game to tell you it's shit

A huge new stadium would hopefully allow a new younger generation to get into the ground. That's the demographic which made St James a bear pit in the past.

Aye definitely need to find a way of getting the younger generation attending with their mates in larger numbers and being able to stand together.

Thought it was decent enough on the whole, although never quite reaching ‘raucous’.

The Schar goal wasn’t celebrated as wildly as could have been expected for a late equaliser, but I think that was down to an element of shock, as a lot of the crowd (probably me included tbh) were sat thinking ‘I can’t believe this has happened against them again’.

Was in block T of the Gallowgate tonight and I thought it was poor.

Me and a gadgie about 10 rows ahead tried to get “This club is my club” started and it took ages to take hold.

Went arse over tit into the row below when Gordon scored like.

I’m 44, I should really grow up

I thought that a little bit. For me it was partly cos of VAR - I was at the opposite end and didn't really know what'd happened, no clue if he was onside.

While the Gallowgate was poor tonight the top tier is much better than anywhere else in the ground outside of the GEC.

Special mention for the LEC.

Level 7 is an abomination imo, you’re so detached from the game.

Thought it used to be the loudest stand. What's changed?

Load of nonsense for me. In my 31 years supporting Newcastle the Gallowgate has never been the loudest. Load of Sky shite about the home end and Shearer scoring there etc. Was the Leazes prior to the 90s, maybe during the 90s it was and since the 90s has been Level 7 and the corner.

Too many long standing season ticket holders in the Gallowgate. Needs a shake up.

Can those “fans” who watched the game on the telly or listened on the radio stop bleating on about how bad the atmosphere was?

"Fans"?

Gallowgate is weird how it varies so much in different pockets. Sat in different blocks for the Chelsea, arsenal and Liverpool games. If you are near the back towards strawberry corner it’s really good and near constant singing. The middle section literally might as well be empty. There’s also pockets of blokes doing the look how hard I am standing up all game - in almost complete silence!

90% of the stadium is devoid of any passion and just sit there in silence. I’ve seen every excuse trotted out in this thread from nerves to that football has changed. Unfortunately it’s bullshit the Emirates were all standing behind both ends last night and it was raucous even with Amazons shit sound, considering the game last night the atmosphere was more akin to Bournemouth at home shocking.

Should those fans who watched the game but didn't actually play in it not pass judgement on the players' performances too from now on?
