The entire thread is basically now about how shit the atmosphere is. The majority of people in the block I was in yesterday barely seemed to notice there was a game going on. It’s like it’s an afterthought or just a routine that doesn’t even interest people. 
 

As most in here keep saying. The match seems like something that is just going on in the background and not the main reason people attend. 

 

You couldn't have been paying too much attention to the match yourself if you noticed what each individual around you was doing

Aye. I was watching 100s of individuals the whole match.
 

Although it is quite hard to watch the game when people are up and down for a piss, pint, pie every 5 minutes or just having a general chinwag along the row. Atmosphere like a morgue and nobody getting animated by much other than someone misplacing a pass or calling the ref a wanker. 
 

The usual two in front of me, lad and his son always get stuck in and seem to actually like the football, TBF.

I find it odd that people are so desperate to get a pint they’ll miss the final 5 minutes of the first half. I mean you can drink before and after the match.

10 minutes to go yesterday. Loads went down at 35 mins. 3 mins stoppage time and all!

If they're not going to support the team then surely it's better that they at least make some noise rather than just sit in silence. And if all some are doing is moaning when a pass is misplaced then surely it's better that they disappear for a pie or a pint whenever they like. I'm far from having a paddy, can show you my heart rate if you like . I just find it odd that other people being inoffensive is criticised as much (if not more) than those who boo or tell the players to "fuck off" at full time.

 

Seems like the NUSC need to produce a list of accepted actions inside SJP.

Obviously booing and properly abusing the players is far worse. There was no booing near me, mind. Most had left and the ones that stayed nobody seemed particularly arsed about much either way. The same as the previous 90 minutes. 

Not what I am saying at all about what people can and can’t do. You’re being facetious like you have been throughout this entirely pointless exchange. So I’ll duck out now. As you clearly have no issue with the crowd.

All I'm saying is when people are paying north of £600 to watch a few games of football I think they're afforded the opportunity to have a piss or grab something to eat whenever they like, whether that riles up a bunch young druggies, old farts or whoever. And as for having a bit craic with people next to them in the ground, howay man, it's ridiculous to suggest you shouldn't talk about anything other than the football during the 90 minutes. Unless the club pull their finger out and allocate proper sections for singing and being merry then there's nowt anyone can do.

Trouble is too many fans take criticism to saying atmosphere needs to improve, they think because they turn up they do their part then don't like fans saying it how it is.

Forgetting about our crowd for a second, the away fans were diabolical yesterday. I was right next to them in the standing section and apart from one ‘come on Fulham’ when they scored I didn’t know they were there until the very end. Shocking set of fans.

I thought the atmosphere in Howe’s first season in the battle to stay up was amazing with the togetherness. I went to most home games as you could get tickets. The next season too the atmosphere was amazing. I think the champions league qualification has left some fans maybe “expecting” things with a bit of entitlement kicking in possibly?

I watch Forest games when they all sing along at the start of each half or even Liverpool with the same and get a bit envious.

Rangers Celtic Man U and Liverpool are the only fans in Britain I see sing songs that aren't the usual generic shite and songs that can last a few minutes.

Embarrassing that they still do that proper small lower league shite of "You're shit ahhhhhh" everytime the opposing keeper takes a goal kick.

 

Can always tell a small club and small club mentality when they do that, them, Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton all been guilty of it this season. Mackems will probably do it when they come back up too considering how long they've been out the top flight.

I was in L7 standing section yesterday & there was an attempt to get some chants going. I'd 100% have the away fans in L4 towards the East Stand. It'd help atmosphere immeasurably. 

 

You definately get the sense a fair proportion are 'out' for the day and the match is almost secondary.

Forest (Mull of Kintyre), Stoke (Delilah), Us (Blaydon races though getting less now for some reason) Sheffield Utd (Annie's song), Mackems (Wise men say) to name a few.
