Trouble is nothing will change, we need trust supporters club and WF to get together and push club for seat relocation and dedicated standing areas, it's only option really

I honestly don't think there's any real appetite from any party, whether that's supporters or club, to do anything to improve things.

I made the decision not to attend yesterday. First time since the takeover. Didn't apply in the ballot, didn't go for the members sale, didn't take advantage of the easy availability on resale either. Got to say SJP bores me these days. The football isn't particularly great on the eye (for the ticket cost) but worse still there's absolutely no life in the place whatsoever. It depresses me.

It is depressing like.

I was sat amongst the silent majority yesterday contemplating why we’ve got such flaccid supporters.

I think for many people they only go out of habit, whatever passion they had is now long gone. They’re in a loveless marriage where familiarity has led to contempt.

Think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there mate. I've even noticed this season that the excited collective roar that the crowd have always made (which sort of starts off quieter and then builds) when we are on the attack is also starting to disappear as well. Just no real encouragement for the players. We used to be the best crowd at pressurising the referee, that's sadly not the case now either.

Just no enthusiasm inside the place these days. It's a shame and there's a host of different reasons for it.

Whilst there is an issue with the atmosphere in the main, I do find anyone thinking that it was going to be anything other than flat at home to newly promoted Burnley as wishful thinkers. Would be the same at every other PL club who’s expected to win fixtures like that.

It’s the sitting in silence that bamboozles me.

I get that not everybody wants to sing. And I get that opposition and kick off times influence the atmosphere. But tens of thousands of people are just going there to sit in silence.

Or if they do pipe up it’s to slag our own players off.

I’ve been in every part of the ground recently other than Milburn L7 and apart from the Corner it’s the same shit everywhere. Thousands and thousands of people completely lacking any enthusiasm and unwilling to offer any encouragement.

I agree, there appears to be many who use how many years they’ve been going to matches as the barometer for how much of a mint fan they are regardless of their contribution (or lack of it) to the atmosphere. I’d wager a few are still ingrained in the mentality of the match being the worst part of their day out on the drink as they may have to watch a couple misplaced passes or a miscontrols rather than being there to support NUFC. Being an East Stand regular, that’s unfortunately common outside of those I try and sit with and a few around my old ST seat.

No easy way to solve it though. ‘I’ve been going/had this seat for three millenia, I’ll do what I want.’

Local Hero not being the final song played before kick off is really annoying me, probably more than it should

Fully agree. It’s fucking awful. Not just playing it but the players coming out to Hey Jude :anguish: :anguish:

It’s actually made the already regularly poor atmosphere even worse imo.

Champions League games have been poor as well. Bilbao was dead. Even Barcelona was pretty average.

The last home game before we played the Mackems always used to be canny for atmosphere no matter the oppo.

I hate it when we're winning and we start singing songs about how much we hate Sunderland

Same, especially when they were slumming in in League One but on Saturday we should've been letting the players know.

Are they still playing O Fortuna pre match? Love that tune, so powerful, majestic, gives me goosebumps.

No.

They play Blitzkrieg Bop, Hey Jude, Local Hero and a shit version of the Blaydon Races.

Sometimes they’ll play a version of Thunderstruck that has had “toon toon” shoehorned into it.

It’s ear rape.
