Aye they did. Was almost right in front of us as we were penned into that corner but behind the goal line. Sure the fire brigade ended up having to put it out. They were mental like. Best atmosphere I think I've experienced.

In terms of European atmosphere France is very underrated, I actually thought PSG was far far better than Dortmund couple year back and actually better than Milan too.

The Port was great and sure a lot of our lads will head there again despite the scare mongering. Clearly like a lot of these places folk need to watch their back and not be wandering around pissed singing late at night, but I’d wager a bet any major issues will be with the French Police.

Marseille ultras are a left wing anti authoritarian lot - as you say the French polis dint want 3000 pissed up English hoyed into the mix . They’re trying to get an easy night and just have to watch their own groups.

Find the choreography of a lot of European support proper naff myself, Dortmund were just a monotonous drone throughout. Their little marches up to the ground hours before KO are sad as fuck n'all.

Felt very plastic when we played them in the CL

From being in the stadium when we played them, I thought, visually, the yellow wall looked great.

But do agree the noise, as with a lot of European stadiums, didn’t feel as authentic as British stadiums.

I guess it’s a question of do you just want constant sound, or do you want sound that’s directly related to what’s happening on the pitch?

It does feel somewhat manufactured. When we go to watch PSV if we can we'll also try to watch Borussia Monchengladbach if we can fit both games in on the same weekend as it's an easy train ride away. Always try to get a seat above the huge 16,000 capacity terrace where their ultras go and basically they are only allowed to sing what the person who stands on the raised platform at the front tells them to sing, and when he tells them to stop they've got to stop. They can't break off into smaller groups and start their own chants.

It does give it an unauthentic feel and it's certainly something that I would hate to see over here. Remember last season we managed to do a double header, Monchengladbach v Leipzig on the Saturday and PSV v Ajax on the Sunday. Monchengladbach was just bizarre. They all stood there in total silence for the first 20 minutes, not even roaring their team on when they were attacking. In the end I had to ask what was going on and it turned out it was a protest against Red Bull owning Leipzig. It's really frowned up in over there. Then as soon as the scoreboard hit 20 minutes everyone just starts going mental and bouncing about. Was all just a bit strange.

The bairn loves all the Harry Palmer stuff when i have it on in the car - funny hearing a 4 year old singing about Alan Gowling.

I work with a lass from Nepal and she likes to learn bits and pieces of Geordie so I had her singing “slap your lass with a Christmas tree" for a solid week. I felt so proud.

First time in the Leazes Corner in 5ever. Is there a bad smell or something in the toilet cubicles?

It can't be too bad because plenty were still happy to queue to get into them, but seen loads coming out wiping and sniffing their noses.

Few brass band aficionados too as a few lads were discussing the various qualities of their bugle

I mentioned it in a recent club survey. The amount of people going to toilets to sniff some lines whilst people are waiting to genuinely use them, as well as fans coming in to the stadium who are clearly out of their mind is unacceptable to be honest. It’s fucking blatant as well.

Midweek game either last season or season before, I seen two lads openly railing lines in the bogs at half time, they didn’t even bother with a cubicle, then went out into the concourse to the group of primary school age kids they were in charge of.

I mentioned it on here at the time.

A ridiculous amount of people leaving way before half time.

The trickle starts with 10 minutes plus added time still to play and accelerates to a mass exodus where there are empty sections all over, with the game still going on.

If you're not really that bothered about football let someone have your ticket who is.

This proper fucks me off like.  It's earlier than the 35th minute from what I can see, too.

People are gasping for a break in play from minute 25-30 to start their exodus.

It’s a very valid point.

However managing to shoehorn in that people are having to wait ages to have a shit has made me chuckle.

Quite a few near me in Leazes left at 30 minutes, couldn't believe it. Then the usual mass exit the minute the scoreboard shows 40:00 on it.

Don't understand it personally.

"Ticket prices are horrific"

Same people...

"I need a pint cause it's been 40mins since my last one"

Let's say it's £45 a ticket that's £2.50 just being pissed away every time you leave 5mins early at half time. Just peculiar.
