Meine Generalplan Gallowgate was bring more safe standing in and if they don't like it due to being a mint fan by being inherently miserable in the same seat for ages then tough.

Main point I raised throughout however was ticketing and ticket prices. Bringing back the L7 corner another. Also had a pop at the prematch music. Hey Jude, Blitzkrieg Bop (with 'hey ho lets go' appearing on the advertising hoardings) and Freed From Desire can get in the sea. Tinpot as fuck.

I said make both ends and the corners of both ends safe standing & singing.

I said we don’t need pre-match music.

I said we need to get loads more younger people in as having 35,000 who are mainly owld folk who are getting older every season is killing the atmosphere and future fanbase of the club.

I said if people with ST’s didn’t want to stand and be noisy and also didn’t want to move to a seated section, then tell them to get to fuck. It’s not “their” seat, it belongs to NUFC.

I said ticket prices were too high, it was too difficult to get tickets and outside of The Corner most areas of the ground are appalling unless you want to listen to non-stop complaining or the sound of silence.

I said give us big standing and singing sections with the right people in them and we’ll deliver a much better atmosphere.

Filled it in. I think what we need is fairly obvious. Standing areas dedicated to those who want to create an atmosphere. It just depends if the club care enough to inconvenience some people to make it happen. There's plenty of people wanting a ticket so if people don't want to move elsewhere, there'll be others who will be happy to take their place.

Oh, I also said that I couldn’t comment on which clubs had decent atmospheres these days because away games are strictly only available to people with ST’s and there’s been no way to get an ST since Oct 21 unless you know someone who’s giving their ST up and willing to change it to your name.

Whole of the Gallowgate safe standing and the Curva nord (inc L4) pls.

Can't see why it can't be done. If the likes of Chelsea with a 40k capacity and an even older fanbase than ours can have 12k safe standing spaces I can't see why we can't have 15k out of a 52k capacity.

The atmosphere can influences performances and, therefore, results so the club have a vested interet i overlooking any inconvenience caused.

They also have to be careful as the last time I was in LWC Lvl 4 my boy and I were surrounded by pissed up white blokes who disappeared at half time and came back sniffing like crazy as if they'd just caught a cold.

Directly under the police box they were drinking bottles and smoking until a NUFC representative came out and removed them.

In those cases being a family man who brings his 14yo to every game he can sitting beside a old ST holder is a blessing. We still sing and enjoy ourselves...

Well said. I was one of the old farts in the East Stand but I would do my best vocally.

My worst away days were the coked up young uns totally embarrassing Our Geordie fan base. Something should definitely be done about them.

I don't think anyone is saying that we want to try and fill the ground with blokes doing loads of bugle.

What we're saying is we want a lot more people who are willing to provide positive support and be vocal. Doesn't matter how old they are, what ethnicity they are, how wealthy they are, what gender they are, how much or little booze they drink and so on.

However, when it comes to age, for the future support of the club we need more youngsters (under 25's) getting access to games, having an old and aging demographic dominating the majority of tickets isn't a healthy situation for NUFC.

What we want less of is: the complainers, the silent, the disinterested, the pint on 35's leave on 85's and the thousands who contribute very little when they're in the ground either because they can't be arsed, they don't want to be positive, or they're restricted in their ability to be positive due to the lack of standing & singing areas.

I urge every Newcastle United supporter to e mail the club and ask the simple question …. Why ?

The ticket situation is getting way beyond the realms of reason

Dear Newcastle United

I wonder if you could explain something to me please ?

As a lifelong supporter of the club, nearing seventy years of age, why are you trying to spoil people’s enjoyment of the ‘matchday experience’ as I think you now call it

It is a simple question

Why ?

Why are fans anxiety levels raised at every game every time they approach a turnstile to gain entry into a ground ?

Fans are now anxious every game as to wether their match ticket goes green or red, and if it goes red you have to walk to a ticket office and stand in another queue which usually means missing the kick off and some of the game, to identify yourself

Why do we have to do that ?

And also why

If a friend who for some reason or another can not attend a game, wether it be because of illness or a family matter or whatever, if they have been kind enough to pass on a match ticket to someone else, a friend, passing on a ticket to a  fellow Newcastle United supporter, who wants to go and support Newcastle United, why does the person passing on the ticket have to be persecuted for helping another fan ?

Why is he/she subjected to match bans, away points deductions etc

Why does a ticket even have to be deemed red or green ?

If you pass on a ticket for the theatre or some other form of entertainment, a music gig say, you can do so quite freely without the fear of retribution from anyone

Why do Newcastle United see fit to be judge and jury over a persons freedom to help a fellow supporter ?

Why ?

What is the reason ?

What is it you are trying to achieve by acting in this manner ?

Away games nowadays quite often involve an overnight stay, because of the ridiculous kick off times, I write this e mail now in a hotel room in Manchester after our semi final defeat tonight, at a cost of £90 on top of my travel costs,  train or coach travel, a tank of petrol if going by car, maybe even time off work causing loss of earnings on top of the expenditure laid out to support the team, the club, Newcastle United

Then after going to all that effort of time and money, the club, our club, who we support, will not let you into the ground just because a kind friend has passed on a ticket to you

Where is the logic in this behaviour please ?

Can you explain to me Newcastle United ?

What are you trying to achieve ?

Then

While all this is going on, anyone, and I mean anyone, someone who has never been to a football match in their life before, a non Newcastle United supporter, or, even a supporter of another football club, a rival club, can go onto a third party ticket website and providing he has the extortionate funds they charge at his or her disposal, can purchase a ticket,  home or away, to attend any game of their choosing without any fear of the ticket going red and access being denied

Why is this going on ?

What sense does it make ?

And also, why do you refuse to trace these tickets from third party websites to their origin ?

I have even offered to purchase one of these tickets myself and bring the ticket to you for inspection so it can be traced, but you are not interested in doing so

Why is that ?

And again also

Why can match tickets connected to corporate supporters be freely passed onto whoever the corporate business deems fit without any form of retribution ?

Why are supporters of Newcastle United split into different categories ?

Some who face punishment for harmlessly helping a fellow fan and others who can do whatever they like with corporate or third party tickets without any fear of retribution

Would you have the common courtesy to explain this to me please Newcastle United ?

It is as I previously stated, a simple question

Why are you doing this ?

I await your response with immense anticipation

Yours

The away fans were fantastic last night.

Loud and proud. I was in the home end which was an embarrassment, empty seats all over, whole tier not open (although someone mentioned that might have been for works being done but I’m not sure).

Our lot were class.

The tiktokers and season ticket holders who only started fancying aways again post October 2021 must have been busy last night, or put off by the 0-2 deficit.

See the bit I've highlighted in bold.

It's not as simple as just helping someone out though. You can do that a couple of times a season. If you can't make it for example. Problem is it can be open to simply point building,  I've done it myself. It may help a mate or whoever but it also helps the ticket holder stay in the top points bracket and therefore keep priority on tickets. If you've genuinely done 150 aways then of course that should be recognised but there will be some on 150 pts who may have only attended 50 of those. There ARE "people who want to support Newcastle United" who will never get on the points ladder while the same few thousand have a stranglehold on away tickets, and I'm not talking about people just wanting to go because we're half decent nowadays but there are the younger lads/lasses for example. It's a loyalty point system. Reward loyalty and the people who have actually used their tickets.

I said most of the above, and re the bit in bold I added comment that historically NUFC have moved people out of their seats when there's a money-making initiative being implemented (new lounges etc.) and have been more than happy to take the flak from doing so.

Also used the opportunity to request clarification from WF on the rumours that @Heron was named in the Epstein files but that's probably for a different thread.

Thursday nighy was class- the second half was actually quite fun. No pressure on the game as it was done and dusted, consistent singing and noise and Newcastle making chances as Man City had switched off.

Everyone there seemed to enjoy having a bit singsong, so why are away ends at PL games the complete opposite and full of miserable sourpusses stuck on "mute?"

Also in terms of atmosphere, the home end was appalling. It's galling to think that this is the club we are attempting to copy. If it gets like that I just don't think I'll bother anymore.

I'd say there would have been more of the hardcore there on Wednesday. Those who cried for a loyalty points rule change back in 2021 because they suddenly decided that away games appealed to them, but because they'd never bothered before they couldn't get tickets, would have been conspicuous by their absence as it was a "dead" game and that would no doubt have applied to the new waves of You tubers and social media whores as well who've been populating the away ends a lot more these past few years.
