andyc35i
I really don’t get what anyone is talking about. He’s not had any standout games recently, but he’s been fine by all accounts. He’s the only one in the midfield three that sprints back and makes a difference when we’re exposed. He was taken off on Sunday prematurely in my view and should have stayed on and played further forward to see if he could influence the game now that we owning the ball

Dyeyzzon
Just seen TG’s comments. I regret giving him a second of the attention he craves. He’s making us more of a laughing stock like that.

Same happened when people overrated Gordon’s ability. Well it is an opinion, but when—and love him or hate him, he was one of the best ever—Paul Scholes states he is the best midfielder in the Premier League you have to take the opposite view, which many NUFC fans have, seriously. I'm sure he can do a job sitting in as well, but then it's on the team as a whole to get the ball beyond the press and releasing the forwards. London Mag
He's better in the middle. Didn't work when he was on the right last year which is why he was moved central and played his best football. Fuck knows why you would move him back right when it didn't work last time

Fuck knows why you would move him back right when it didn't work last time Because he's been playing poorly in the middle. Particularly with getting the ball up the pitch from the back, which is crucial in that position. We cannot progress the ball because he is not doing enough to find space to receive the ball and start play out from the back. He's been really bad at that. RobsonsWonderland
He has had a bad run since his illness. However I still agree with Paul Scholes when he said Tonali is the best midfielder in the league. Just hope he clicks back into gear sooner rather than later. BonesJones
I swear prior to this he was our most consistent player? Or am I imaginging that. Last player to moan about for me.
Mountain
He's great. He'll come through this rough spell along with many other players. My main concern is Elanga, Ramsey and our dear leader. But I hope everything comes good.
Sima
Weird that he has been moved from his role as a 6 where he has been at his most consistent for us. Build the team around him there as he is still our best player imo.

It’s made for the weakest midfield we’ve had in yonks despite the personnel available. We are really easy to play through.

It's fine if you've got pressure on the ball but all too often we don't so our opponents often just walk into space between the lines.

Never saw a Newcastle player even lay a finger on Xhaka and Sadiki who were both very comfortable. They were pretty much camped in Newcastle's half the first 45 mins. Looked like they were having a good old time to me.
