Maybe just needs a couple of weeks out the squad, he was an absolute machine for a long spell earlier in the season with some ridiculous late sprints etc so wouldn't be surprised if that's caught up with him, alongside a potential illness, new/soon to be baby etc. Certainly wouldn't be looking at shifting him [emoji38]

It doesn’t look like fatigue to me. He’s still absolutely hounding players down to win the ball back but he’s routinely caught in two minds in possession. You never know what could be on a player’s mind regarding their private lives. He’ll bounce back.

Good point... You know gambling is an addiction, fingers crossed it's nothing like that

I also don’t think it looks like there is a lack of effort or like he is struggling because of an illness, fatigue or an injury. He is still doing the work.

Without looking at the numbers. It feels like the number of sprints and ground covered hasn’t dropped off much, if at all. But his passing and how often he gets dispossessed must be worse.

He has never been elite on the ball. But he regularly has a bad touch or hangs onto it too long. Or he tries a quick early pass, which is often straight to the opposition.

I suppose your technique takes a hit when you’re tired. So it could still all be related to him being ill, having COVID or whatever.

It feels like he is better suited to the high press, and he makes more mistakes when we are on the back foot. Might just be a case of taking time to adapt to different ways of playing.

An early criticism of his time here was his sloppy passing but that was when his napper was all over the place, obviously. Then he seemed to sort it out and his game came on massively, lately his form has been dreadful. Fuck knows what's going on with him

I thought he was good first half? Mainly the off the ball stuff. But some decent stuff in possession too.

The second half was atrocious, mind. There was a 5-10 minute spell where he lost it every time he got it or tried to pass it.

Think he's due a wee spell on the bench. In awful form.

Thought he was better today tbh, did brilliantly in the build up to the (first) goal that was chalked off.

Got a bit sloppy second half for sure, seems to be needlessly giving it away so often.

On the ball yes. Off the ball he put in a real shift, he got stuck in even if he didn't use the ball well enough.

Can’t fault his effort, if anything maybe he’s trying too hard. Would benefit from being a bit more measured in possession. He’s charging around the pitch at 100 Mph. Proper helter skelter stuff.
