I don’t think he is miles off his usual standards. His off the ball work is still largely good. Plenty of energy. Probably does lose the ball more often than usual, but given we are under pressure throughout the game this is not too surprising

He’s 10% off. He’s doing more aimless pass forwards to nobody than usual. Which led to the 3rd funnily enough. 
 

Most of the team are off it tbf and Tonali is one.

Seriously, what is wrong with him. If it's fatigue, we need to be more aggressive with rotating the midfield. We spent money on a squad for a reason, and on current form he's frankly not that much better than Ramsey or Willock would be.

The effort and work rate is still there, his quality on the ball though has taken quite the nosedive.

Good take. He's one of those who seems to be struggling with the shifting formations this season.

I'm sure he had a bout of flu. I thought it was common knowledge. I think Elanga is poorly with flu. I might be wrong.

Thought he was our worst player as well. He was absolutely brilliant when he came on for twenty minutes against Fulham so maybe it's as simple as fatigue.

He's been rotated though. Didn't think I'd say this, but we need a dedicated DM if these types of performances are going to continue. We are so vulnerable to pretty much anything at the moment, and unfortunately he's a big part of why.

Could do with Tino back and Miley available to rotate into midfield/the back 4/5 as we see fit. Perhaps Tino even operates well in there? Who knows.

 

Just need that fluidity available so the likes of Tonali who is an absolute workhorse can get the right amount of rest.

Sometimes it is best to sell a player at their financial peak, but I don’t trust the back room to replace him adequately. 
 

if he gets back to his best we get Europe, if he doesn’t we probably miss out and his value and suitors plummet anyway.
