Bruno is a rare thing in todays football. Absolute legend. In general that type of loyalty isn't expected anymore. The quotes from Tonali aren't surprising, and I don't blame him either.

Why do we think he’s off now? Said anything?

I've thought for some time, if we didn't look like challenging - he would want to leave next summer.

We are wasting his time otherwise. He should be in a team challenging at the top end of the league consistently and winning trophies. And a leader within those teams.

We might get lucky like we did with Bruno but then we still have to pay him. With Bruno we set a high but fair price and nobody came in for him. Everyone carries on. I'm happy with that approach. £105m is a fair price. Nothing less. I can see Tonali respecting that even if an Italian side tried to get him for £70m.

The Isak deal set a precedent. We will let players go for a fair price, not an astronomical one. We'll negotiate.

This is why I think we should've stuck to the Tino x Tonali model.

We need potential superstars. Elanga? what were we thinking?

Elanga, as poor as he's been so far, clearly has raw attributes that give him a high ceiling. Forest fans (including my best mate) adamant that he's a very gifted player... we're just not seeing it yet.

Patience.

Fair comments really. Players have a short career and Tonali might well be approaching his peak. If a title challenging side come in, he'll probably want to go. He was ambitious enough to leave his boyhood club for us after all.

That's fine, but there's ways and means of going about it.

He doesn't have the technical attributes to have a high ceiling.

A high ceiling player is like Marcus Rashford. Even a Yankuba Minteh.

A player with limited technical ability, movement, composure etc. isn't going to have a high ceiling for a top 8 club.

Qualifying for next season's Champions League is the crucial point. If you succeed he'll stay 100%... the only team he wouldn't say no is Real Madrid but without Ancelotti, who was a huge admirer of Sandro, I don't think Real Madrid will bet on him.

I'm more worried about Arsenal and Chelsea than City and Liverpool (living in London is a huge draw for his wife and for Italian women in general).

Can't complain really. You want to keep the best players, you have be in the CL every year, and pay top wages. That's not us yet. Might be the next cycle of players who can be offered all that.
