alexf
People need to calm down. Running away with narratives in their own heads etc. Truth is he's probably just in a poor run of form this year and he's probably trying just as hard as before but things just aren't coming off. It's sometimes hard to come into a game as a sub and catch up to the speed. I just can't buy into any player purposefully playing bad to help facilitate a move away especially when we're months away from a transfer window. Sometimes players just go through bad runs. Do people think Isak was purposefully playing bad at his new club? Looked a shadow of the player we have but doesn't mean suddenly he's shit. Players hit bad form, it can happen, get over it. Keefaz
I don't think it's deliberate. It's just his feet have gone mad. And his head.
Groundhog63
I've read some shite on here but "Tonali playing to leave" is up there.

TheEntertainer
He still looks like he's trying, plenty of effort, but yeah something isn't right, lots of misplaced passes etc. I don't think he's playing to leave but he's really out of form at the minute, maybe because of something mental, maybe it's just form. I reckon there might be something in that in the way that he might want to bring his kid up in Italy rather than the UK.
Geordie_once_removed
To me his current struggles are down to traits, such as taking a bit too long on the ball at times and trying a pass that isn't really on in a dangerous position, which were there from the start but seem to have been turned up to 11. He now frequently gets caught in possession due to a lack of awareness (which is also affecting his break up play and make a midfield with him in very sieve like) and his passing can be very wayward even when doing short simple passes. But he's still clearly trying, i.e. running to the end and closing down players, so I don't buy this whole his head has gone line. There is obviously an issue but it's more a confidence one as opposed to a want away one for me.
Kid Icarus
It's situations like this, where Tonali's getting pelters and praise is being heaped on Willock, Ramsey, and Elanga, that remind me that football fans are more fickle than the wind and less loyal than cats. I never subscribed to the theory he was purposefully playing bad either. If he was then he definitely isn't scoring that all important penalty away to Brighton. It felt like the groin injury was clearly affecting his mobility and in turn he started snatching at chances and was unable to move into position correctly. But since we had no other options we were still sticking him out there every game despite looking injured/out of form. The theory would carry more weight if he had rocked up at Liverpool and been like mid season Isak was for us, but he didn't, if anything he was far worse. I do think him missing the Arsenal game 2nd to last game however was dodgy and plays into the narrative that he told the club he wanted to leave before the end of the season. Is is not as simple as he (like Sandro) played poorly because they're head and heart aren't in it? Remember when it was almost a done deal of Gordon to the dippers, even Gordon thought he was offskis. His head was gone and he struggled, even admitting so publicly. Now Gordon rebought into team it seems. If you believe Sandro wants off (like I do) then could we convince him to reinvest into us? I think that'd be harder to do as seems likely he wants to be home on Italy, raise his fam there etc. Edited February 11 by Casey
McCormick
He’s had a dip, for sure; heavy schedule, newborn at home, it can happen. But some of the reaction isn’t about his form, it’s about fear imo. Isak’s given the fanbase some serious abandonment issues, I think.

McCormick
There’s a big gap between an agent keeping options open and a player checking out mentally, though.

Ibrahimovic was more likely to insert the cup into the rectum of the person ruining his coffee in fairness. The San Siro’s official name is in the honour of a player who played for both clubs. Plenty of players have played for both Milan clubs - the idea that it’s a hard and fast divide which you don’t cross is laughable. It's not the same thing... Pirlo went to Juve but in Milano there was only applause for him, Baggio was loved but he didn't have Milan in his heart. Collovati in the '80s got a stone in his head for moving from us to Inter, Donnarumma is another piece of shit... it all depends on what you say and how you behave. But we are talking about a completely different fan culture and you are certainly much more advanced in this.
