The reason I replied is because I have done the same about a player like him for a while, a younger Firmino type of our own would be absolutely perfect providing we don’t look to keep Isak in the middle of the three.

I imagine the Guirassy link is bollocks but the release clause is cheap, he plays for Guinea and they've got Senegal and Cameroon in their group so wouldn't be favorites to progress and he hasn't played in the last 2 weeks because of the winter break. We do look in need of an injection of energy that players in dire need of a rest and players just back from a long term layoff are unlikely to give us.

It's based on him having a good season, lazy journalists, if you look past nufc news he's literally in talks with, Milan, Spurs, Man Utd, Bayern, Liverpool, West Ham, Newcastle, probably many more.

 

Closing in on 28yrs, probably agent desperate to get that big move.

 

The release clause will be extremely tempting for some, but as pointed out, its like eating a sweet with the wrapper still on not being able to use him for potentially a month.

Not for £20m they won't. It has the feel of trying to get £15m for Dwight Gayle when he was around 30. Teams would probably pay it for a player who was likely to play most of the season but they aren't daft enough to pay big money for a striker who has a 40% turn out rate.

It will probably be in the summer, maybe for around £15m. His injury record will put a lot of teams off. Of course if he stays fit until the end of the season he could end up with 15 goals again and if we end up in Europe giving him that contract won't have seemed such a bad shout.

No one can afford Phillips. Unless Man C covers a good amount of his wages he won't be going anywhere. Also, they want rid and no one can afford his wages after a permanent transfer, since they pay the most in the world with exception of Real/Barca/PSG. He's stuck there as far as I can see unless he takes a pay cut: does he want to play and be very wealthy or not play and be even more wealthy.

Have to say, I feel a bit sad about the notion of Wilson having to be jettisoned.  I suspect we need to due to his injury record, but I really do think he’s the second best ‘no 9’ in B&W in my lifetime (and we know what that shirt means).  He feels like a throwback; a true traditional centre forward.  His injury record is just horrendous, though.
