The gentleman said Arsenal and Spurs don't do those deals, but they do sometimes. Never mind that they've only been there 5 mins too, and so writing them off already would be pretty strange. And you conveniently ignored how well the Trossard signing worked out for them in comparison to Mudryk who they ended up missing out on. Mudryk was the young high potential resale value guy. But Chelsea are going to end up with a huge loss there. There's a balance to be had with both approaches. It's not as simple or straightforward as always going young for resale value. Well unless you aren't really trying to compete with any urgency.

He looked like a good player v. Arsenal. Certainly stood out as one of Monaco's better lot on the night. Nice passing range and popped up in a number of places across the front line

So it was odd to use them both as examples when a) both players have started poorly and b) both clubs will be ending up with losses as a result of those transfers. I totally agree with this - he’s more of an inverted winger if that makes sense - like a Salah, Kulusevski, Bernardo - someone that creates and retains the ball - nice mix with Gordon and Barnes on the other side - you’d assume the 4th winger if we ever bought one in would be more of a Minteh type Can finish with his right too …
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Thursday at 16:34 Share Posted Thursday at 16:34 (edited) I agree with the point we need as much guile as possible, I don’t think our current players are direct sprinters really. Gordon is a very smart player and Isak is obviously a world class attacking dribbler with great vision. I do want someone on the right with great technique and brain though. Going off his stats on FBREF, he's been pretty useful there. You need a mix of players in your squad and I'm sure Merino will pay off for Arsenal in other ways (League Position, Champs League and Cup Progression) instead of being seen as a potential transfer value loss. I think Merino has had a pretty solid start. And as you say his value will really kick in as the season progresses into the late stages. Not to mention Solanke has 5 goals and 2 assists in 12 Prem outings. Again, pretty solid. But hey ... the man disagrees, and so nowhere else to go with that for me! Andy Posted Thursday at 17:36 Share Posted Thursday at 17:36 There was certainly a time when I thought Solanke would be a shite signing, but from what I've seen of spurs this season, he's genuinely the least of their problems.

We probably need to extend Schar for a year. Krafth will (rightfully) be extended. Whilst we may have some breathing room PSR wise by the Summer I doubt we will be in a position where we can afford luxury's like a back up RB. I think Schar we will want to extend, wouldn't be shocked if he hangs fire to see what the craic is with us signing a right sided CB. People like Lascelles and Burn (when the time comes) won't have the same kind of options I imagine Schar is going to have iuf he decided to leave on a free. Could do well in Italy, Spain, or Germany. I don’t think we have evolved from it tbh, we don’t do it as well or as much but we don’t have an alternative to it.
Matt1892 Posted Thursday at 19:43 Share Posted Thursday at 19:43 I don’t see the similarities between Elanga and Almiron, if anything Elanga shares similarities to Gordon when he first came here. He has potential but won’t be worth the price that Forest want.
