Which in this case I do. £70m was the upper end of what Palace were asking for. The Athletic later reported that we pulled out at £55 million a couple of weeks before the window shut. Exactly why Sky will now be filling their metaphorical pants....nothing to get anyone watching and are probably watching their bank balance falling by the second. A situation they helped create coming back to bite them on the arse...and no doubt they'll be the first to push change to help their 6 back up and running Edited 17 hours ago by gjohnson
Shays Given Tim Flowers
Compared to subscriptions and game break advertising I’m not convinced SSN is the golden egg laying goose like.
Colos Short and Curlies
I think Sky would be more worried with the lack of transfers in that it will result in fewer 'names' being signed from abroad as they have no resale value once they hit 26/27 which makes the league less marketable overall. And then social media takes over and Tik Tok becomes the primary medium for consumption of output

I'll bet we are glad we did now. Spending that sort of money on a centre back is looking increasingly dubious as the PSR shackles kick in. It would have prevented us spending money for a long time on other areas without selling key players. The transfer market is well and truly bunged up thanks to PSR. Transfer fees will be on a downward trend in this country at least.

I'm not as convinced about this as some of you. They challenge for the title (poorly, ok) and are in the CL every year. There's no real reason why Isak wouldn't go there for the right money. They can't afford him though, so it's moot.
Kimbo
For all the Isak talk it’s Sesko they went for in the summer, and I expect them to go for him again. I suppose it’s not a rumour that creates as much engagement.

PIF finally wake up and are able to spend at will. We have a bigger ceiling than Arsenal - even if they are bigger right now. Saka is still very young. If Arteta gets binned, they could drop off a bit if they don't get his successor right. Meanwhile we have a strong English core, Gordon on the other flank, Tino behind him. Englands first choice left side and right side pairing for WC 2026. Jobs a good un.

Isak has played himself into the bracket of players where there are only 2 or 3 clubs that could realistically sign him in the middle of a contract. Feel more sorry for Brexit Jim, who’s finding out that in football, unlike his other business ventures, he can’t just tell someone to do something and they have to jump.
