We’re a Murphy injury away (or drop off in form) from our season collapsing aren’t we?

Miggy was offering minimal, but it’s been shown loads this season that there’s literally no-one else to play RW.

Arguably across the front 3 positions, we have 4 for 3 positions, and that’s if Barnes doesn’t suffer no setbacks.

Must be more to it with Tomori. He was superb against us in the CL last season and always looked quality.

But seems like they’ve been trying to shop him for a while and 25+5 seems dead cheap.

Form must have fell off a cliff or some behind the scenes shenanigans.

We just cannot afford deals like Mbeumo because there’s no chance we make our money back in the future. No one will pay £50m for him when he’s 29.

This is the key issue. In hindsight, the Barnes deal was bad because of this issue. We won’t make our money back. Deals for Bruno, Isak, Gordon, Tonali, Botman, Hall and Livramento all worked out great. That’s the blueprint. I don’t think we’ll spend more than £20m on anyone over 25, it just doesn’t make sense. A winger and a CB both under 23 in the summer.

In a non-PSR world, any relegation threatened club would give us our money back for Harvey Barnes. Unfortunately, they can't spend either. In the case of Everton, their PSR woes are worse than ours.

fwiw, I see Leicester's relegation with Harvey Barnes as an outlier that should never have happened. Easily the best squad to be relegated in years. Probably going back to us, and our problem was arseholes like Steven Taylor, not the total level of the squad.
