On your first point, a loan with an obligation is still 100% a loan. Agree 100% on your second point.

Technically sure. But in practice it was just like any of our other transfers. Just structured like a loan to get around PSR.

I didn't like the jack the lad type of person he appeared sitting on city's bench and slipping away from the England setup pointed to a serious lack of ambition.

But the videos I have seen of his interactions with his sister with cerebal palsy and other disabled fans as a dad with two severely disabled kids I must admit I instantly saw him differently.

No idea what he could offer these days footballing wise but a loan without obligation may not be so bad.

that one with the blind girl on the podium was just sheer class from him.

If PSG are saying they want €40M for Kang-in Lee, we should be looking into a transfer.  He is good at dribbling and ball retention, creative passing, and he scores goals. Would be a nice addition to have a left foot on the right.  ChosunBiz

That would also settle the the rw leaving plenty of money for rcb.

£50m seems to be the new £20m = going rate for a very good footballer. Inflation of footballer prices has gone nuts. Another reason PSR is not fit for purpose

The acceptable three-year loss being set years ago and not going up with the inflation of transfer fees is very unfair.

Wages to turnover is about the only bit that makes some kind of sense.

Id be up for loans with obligations we can trigger or not trigger depending on how the player does.

I think Villa were correct to go for it in January, even if they came up just short. This is independent of my opinion on Rashford and Ascensio, the actual players they chose.

He’s not great; especially for what Howe would demand in a right-winger imo.

Grealish on loan is a no-brainer for me - he’s a very good footballer and will be well motivated with the World Cup next year!

Can you name a similar profile of a player, in their peak years, not getting game time at a top team who has moved on elsewhere to do well?

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

He's done a Philips and had lots of money and glory whilst his game's gone to rat shit.

See also, but to a lesser extent, the boy Sterling

I wouldn't play him instead of Joelinton, Gordon or Barnes on the left of a mid3 or front3

I wouldn't play him instead of Bruno or Tonali as a "playmaker" free role.

So what's the point of him?

If we can get him in on a relatively low wage that doesn't prevent us chasing our main targets, then fine. He'd be alright for a year in the squad.

Apart from the fact we'd have an older player on £200k a week, part funded by us, sat on the bench. When he's not on the bench where's he playing? Who's he replacing?

Gordon's above him in the England pecking order and he's not getting a gig in our mid 3 so I ask again, what's the point of him?

Grealish would be class but I think I’d prefer him playing as a 10 rather than out on the left. His age and wages mean it’s a non starter but he would still comfortably be one of our better players, he would be one of those that you don’t realise how good they are until they’re playing for you e.g Trippier.

We need more than 11 players next season. Whether you like him or not if fit he would play a lot of football across the potential 60 games.

Surely you think more of Eddie Howe than this though.
