NUFC Transfer Rumours

Aye, but you keep paying that for five years. Meaning you have to consistently qualify or sell players over the following four years.

Isak will be gone in the next 2 years unfortunately unless we are winning the premier league and champions league. That will cover loads of transfers

That’s how amortisation works - and amortisation is also the reason why we don’t have a huge amount of wriggle-room, because there’s c.£200m of book value of previous transfers on the annual books already.  It’s high risk to bring players onboard from CL funding unless you’re one of the Big Six, as we won’t be able to replace that income the following year if we don’t qualify again (and of course qualifying again will still likely necessitate sales, given that the burn rate on previous amortised transfers will have been added again).

If your flapping about no signings at this point, sorry, but your unwell!

It's the 13th of June, we don't restart the season next week, we don't even return to pre season for a month or so, I don't want to be harsh with my words but it's honestly bordering on moronic. (That's the politest way I can word it!)

I really thought that winning that 1st trophy would've changed the mentality of the fanbase but shockingly to me so many still want to cling on to the negativity and despair.

I don't remember who made the post but they hit the nail on the head when they said it doesn't matter the name of who we actually sign, because whoever it is we know they'll be the right fit. Our recruitment has been 10/10, we have every reason to trust the people in charge of the process from top to bottom. So chill the fuck out, embrace the rumours, and whilst you reflect on the greatest season in our lifetime, be ready for it to be topped!

“Speed is key because we have to be dynamic, we have to be ready to conclude things very quickly because good players don’t hang around for long. That’s always been my thought and my message on recruitment really because you can have a period when you think you have time - but then you look around quickly and you see that time has elapsed and you missed opportunities you won’t get again. That’s what we will be trying but the reality of that is it’s not always in your hands - but we will do our best to do things early.”

Still think most signings will happen after 30th June to be included within next years accounts. May see a signing before, but I suppose it depends on the knock on effect going forward and if we have any wiggle room.

While I think panic at this point is daft, we don’t need to wait until 1st July to sign players on 1st July

We can (though the contract has to be signed on the 1st), but let's be honest when do we announce signings until the contract is signed. We have seen it take 3 or 4 days before an announcement, even when we know the player has had his medical - look at Botman. We don't do things quickly in terms of signing players.

How much do you think our 2 £60m players earn ?

No idea. Googling brings up Isak on £120k, Tonali on £135k.  Bruno has just renewed his contract for a reported £160k and Joelinton £150k.

Cunha is on £200k a week at Man U. I just think £120k a week is a pretty conservative estimate for a £60m player nowadays.

Would rather watch her videos than 90% of our youtube lot

Her videos are really good but she was another one on twitter giving it the “we are Man Utd” when Mbeumo looks to be choosing them.

The thing is, people in here bit the doubters heads off early last summer, and we know what a debacle/non event it indeed turned out to be. This summer is giving off at least as many warning signals.

For what it's worth I think we will sign people, it'll just be almost exclusively Howe specials - PL/English talent for big money, with few if any low cost continental signings, and minimal clearing of the deadwood.

Hope I'm wrong.

You usually are 😉

I think they said on pod on the Tyne that while the anxiety of lack of transfers was understandable looking back at previous transfers they’ve usually been in the last week of June or first week of July. Agree with previous comments that there’ll probably be a lot of movement towards end of June with the accounts/PSR thing or whatever it is.

I know how amortisation works and if we have that money to spend you almost have to gamble just to not lose ground.  Villa did just that and it very nearly paid off.

That's the key part. He wanted to move early so we don't miss opportunities but which opportunities have we missed?

Cunha was never really an option and Mbeumo was going to be out of reach wage-wise whether we made our move on day one or not. Delap we clearly made a play for but he chose Chelsea. I can't think of anyone we've missed out on because we haven't acted quickly enough, which is what Eddie was worried about.

That's the only bit that matters.
