The more I think about it, the more i come to the conclusion that our opinion of him is largely based around the plight of the club. We've not been able to spend for 3 transfer windows which has caused some to have a distain for his weekly copy and paste pieces which never come to fruition. Pod on the Tyne does them no favours as well.
Abacus
Don't mind any of our local sports journalists really. But it's clear not many are in the loop on transfers, which is as it should be. So even if it's just educated guesswork from them at least it gives us something to talk about. I get the feeling there will be at least one name we're not expecting, but I think there has been too much consistent noise about Trafford for that not to be one of the pieces in the jigsaw. Not sure what there is to the Pedro chat other than suspecting we've been in for him in the past, likewise Guehi as was well reported. And we don't tend to give up on transfer targets. Would be very happy with those three and maybe one surprise.

Waugh is a bit of a nerd but hes not a gobshite like Edwards or an old school hack like Hope. Waugh and Caulkin have no interest in transfer clickbait, or seriously diving deep into transfers, its not their thing. They will give you a long piece on someone's background story, whether its any good or not is entirely opinion but I do always laugh when I see people slag them off in the transfer thread. If you are going to Waugh for your transfer update, it's your own fault when you just see the same shit.

We would need a central midfielder if we were to let go of Willock and Longstaff. I also don't expect both to leave personally.

Without a doubt, but it's questionable weather we would receive any decent offers. And plus even if we did our squad would have a gaping hole in central midfield to be filled. Toonjam88
I think Waugh isn’t a bad journalist as he won’t just write any shit but what it does tell you is that the journalist know fuck all about what is happening
ponsaelius
Depends on how much we're considering adapting the system. I think Pedro effectively replaces what Willock offers if we were looking to switch to more of a 4-2-3-1. We've had squad depth but not enough quality/flexibility for a while - hopefully we're looking to address that this summer.
gbandit
We’ll know by end of June whether Ramsey is signing for us, so not long to go on that one

ponsaelius
I could definitely see us alternating a lot more between 4-3-3 and a 4-2-3-1 if we did sign Pedro. It gives us much more options against weaker sides. I can't see why we'd sign him unless we were leaning towards that idea. I think Howe would like the idea of somebody who can be more of a creative link between midfield and attack to change things up but I don't think he likes pure #10s in terms of lacking positional flexibility. Plus they need the physicality. Somebody like Pedro is perfect if you look at it that way. Edited 4 hours ago by ponsaelius
Gallowgate Toon
Howe was staunchly 4-4-2 when he was at Bournemouth, right? Took him quite a few games to try 4-3-3 with us, from memory.

Question two, would you prioritise your signings/should building around this. Unless we are pulling rabbits out of hats I don't see how we do. JP Trafford Top notch CB Top notch RW With our budget. I do concur with your thoughts though, I definitely could see Eddie wanting to press in a 442 and defending deep in a 451.
