NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

To not have one fresh face in for start of pre season is bit of a shitter. Can sugar coat it with plenty of time to go, but I’m sure Howe would’ve wanted at least one or two in for the start.

Each week missed, it’s another week of them not on the same fitness regime and playing catch up if coming from somewhere not as intense.

Still got a week to go yet, Howe will be picking up the bat phone to Yasir Al-Rumayyan tomorrow

Since January stop talking shite will you

19 goals pre February, 8 since with 4 being penalties. You could also read some Howe quotes who confirmed as much.

I've been banging this drum for a while but I hope our failure to land Perdo leads to a slight tweak in what appears to be our strategy.

We already know our starting XI is a match for anyone, we've seen it plenty of times. A quality starter at RW would be an obvious upgrade and a new CB would be ideal due to Schar & Burn being the wrong side of 30 but otherwise I think our best XI is brilliant.

The problem is the drop off as soon as one of our key players gets injured. Schar/Burn/Botman isn't bad and Barnes is a good backup to Gordon but aside from that we're miles off it.

Obviously bringing players in who aren't fancied by our rivals (eg recent injuries, form) because they are available for less financial outlay is a risk, but so is leaving us short on depth heading into a PL/Champions League season.

If we could bring in an immediate starter at RW and then spread the rest of the budget across CB, CM and CF - players who aren't going to walk straight into the side but offer a solid alternative to flogging Bruno, Tonali and Isak three times a week then I'd be happy with that.

I don't mind if we're careful, with the game so rigged in favour of the scummy six we have to be smart.  We can't afford to waste money, when we're trying fight with two arms tied behind our backs.

Bollocks you're trying to say he was injured since January. Last couple of months yes. Howe didn't say shit until the end of the season. The main point though is that he was injured the last couple of month, then you certainly don't want. DCL as his replacement. As for penalties that's part and parcel of a striker's game. Let's take them of Salah's, Harland's or even Shearer's totals

The problem is our owners are helping the "scummy six" at every turn. Whether that's buying their cast offs or poxy world club tournaments

I believe so, still plenty of time. I expect Trafford will be here by then at the least.

Howe mentioned the groin injury/injuries a fair few times in February and beyond. It’s all findable.

My initial post wasn’t an endorsement for DCL btw, just saying we need someone who can cover for Isak and not be injured as well.

A striker of quality, and who is able to either replace Isak or support him to a high level is an absolute must. Osula is the 3rd choice and DCL is nowhere near a second choice player. I honestly can't understand people's thinking. His injury record and scoring record over the last four seasons is not of the standard we need.

How do we get this "striker of quality", when we have more pressing concerns in other areas of the pitch? Any examples who we should look for?
If we buy GK, RCB and RW all of quality, we have no money for this "striker of quality". And this leaves us with 5 midfielders for 3 places, which is way too few.

You can't understand people's thinking and I can't understand your thinking.

Striker is arguably now the most pressing position. We are hugely under resourced for a CL campaign but we could make do in every other area. We need a second striker desperately.

Big Alex sticking the boot in.

Seems to be mixed reports on whether we moved for Mbuemo or by the time we did he'd already picked Man United, not that it really matters like.

Tough summer. Personally I hope it ends up forcing us into gambling on talents with higher ceilings that are more unknown rather than expensive known qualities. Mbuemo and Pedro in particular are highly unlikely to get any better than what they've shown the last couple of seasons. While good players that would absolutely strengthen us, I want more for less even if that means slower progress and the odd dud here and there  Call it the FM-sickness if you will.

I remember the opposite he was always saying during the conferences that he was ok apart from the Liverpool away game (when he was deliberately not used). I certainly agree we need someone, but DCL is certainly not that player

Not more than a CB or RW. At least we have one world class striker.

We need a RW first and foremost. Offering Wilson contract makes it look like we are sharing the minutes Isak is not playing with Gordon, Osula, 3rd striker. We are not going to bring big money striker, and we haven't even been linked with one.

Yeah, that's a fair point.

Is the exact thing we are desperate to avoid.

Imagine paying 30m for someone who turns out to be Lloyd Kelly. This place would be furious.
