NUFC Transfer Rumours

Seems to me the goal is to consolidate as strong a position in the Premier League as possible.

I think we are going to go about this by pushing for both Strand Larsen and Wissa. Both were very capable premier League performers last year, and are suited to how we play. In a better team for both, they should look even more of a threat.

Based off of last season:

Isak - 34 games, 23 goals, 6 assists

Wilson - 18 games, 0 goals, 0 assists

Wissa - 35 games, 19 goals, 4assists

Strand Larsen - 35 games, 14 goals, 4 assists

Think the signings will get downplayed by both Newcastle fans and otherwise, but once the season gets rolling and the production starts coming in, all that noise will fade away very quickly.

You base that on Isak going?

Jackson has went from looking overpriced to the best value striker available pretty quickly.

Hmmm. Could see a world where we sign both and flog Isak just to be done with it.

Watching that, he reminds me a bit of Edin Dzeko. In a kind of standard, solid centre forward type player that doesn’t massively excite but causes problems and does what he needs to do.

Aye that's a fairly good description.

He did well last season but I'm not sure he's a 25 goal per season guy which is essentially what we need.

If not we are gambling on Gordon, Elanga and the Cms increasing output tremendously.

25 goal a season strikers are so rare for a team like ours (4th-6th) , last season was an anomaly with how many scored or got close to 20

just pay whatever for mateta and send Isak to spurs for 100 + richarlison + another, since we are now apparently just living in fantasy world

It's what we need given our set up. Definitely not easy to find.

It's impossible to replace Isak like for like but if we did sign JSL & Wissa, it will likely be more goal output than Isak/Wilson .... Mainly because Wilson was fucked last season for us.

Ideally it's keep Isak ( get his head in order) and sign one of these

Yeah, I think if we get both Isak is going.

It’ll be a compromise of Saudis not losing face and Eddie’s take on how much damage limitation it may take to keep the focus on our progress in all completions without this pantomime ongoing. Not too long before this all plays out. I hope we just end up in a strong position with whoever our strike force is.

I've been a fan of Big Strand, well before we were even linked. he's got something about him. yeah 60m is crackers, but it's not my money and I don't really give a shit at this point.

it's an L for the spreadsheet nonces so that's a W in my book

Wolves are 100% going down. it's Ashley levels of neglect over there for some reason.

If we get 2 players in then Isak is gone and probably for less than what you expect to the dippers so prepare yourselves.

Yep. It's going to feel like we've undersold and overpaid, all thanks to Isak throwing a strop. Although I really hope we stick to our guns and valuation on Isak, a better outcome would be keep Isak and buy Larsen as competition.

Tenuous… but an rumour nonetheless; alternative Wilson replacement?

“Goal.com has indicated that Newcastle United may be interested in acquiring Inter's 20-year-old Italian striker, Francesco Pio Esposito. The potential for Newcastle to make a bid for Esposito is contingent upon Alexander Isak's possible departure to Liverpool. The Merseyside club is said to be intensifying efforts to secure Isak with a substantial £130 million offer, following an earlier £110 million bid that was turned down this summer. Should Isak's transfer to Liverpool come to fruition, Newcastle might consider utilizing the funds to pursue Esposito, given Inter's previous rejection of a €45 million offer for the player. Esposito's contract with Inter extends until June 2030, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €25 million.”

Franco Esposito at inter. He's not started for them but he's young, tall, and can see him being a star.

It's typical of our business to be honest totally lacking in imagination.

This is harsh in a way, its using Dan Ashworths imagination from 2 years ago

This is exactly what I thought 😂

I want royalties for this shit.

Btw he's not Isak like - more of a target/pivot looks very strong. Hold it well. Great in the air so will eat up all those crosses. Not rapid but the rest of the lads are.
