NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

I think anything more than fullback cover would be weird, we signed 2 forwards, a right winger, a CM, a CB and a GK in the Summer, I can't see us basically giving them a vote of no confidence halfway through their first season by buying someone else in the same spots unless it's young potential.

CB seems pretty random. I know right now we only have Thiaw and Schar, but Lascelles is apparently back from injury, Botman is close and Burn will be back by the end of the January window.

Schar, Trips, targett, kraft and lacelles all out of contract as far as we know so while Jan window isn't the best window to do our main business if there is a player obtainable budget and availability wise I am not against it.

Question marks too over tino extending and botman extending or being sold and BDB in final year.

Midfield is more pressing for me. We need to freshen up.

Maybe if osula goes we don't go for a out and out striker someone who can play across the 3 or possibly as an attacking midfielder/10  if such does exist.

Looking at who we liked or rumoured to bid for in the summer the attacking players all were able to play more than centrally.

Saying that now Howe has seen the squad and the spend on big nick may pivot away from the summer ideal plan.

Trips, Targett & Kraft aren't centre backs. January, for me, should be for priorities we need for this season. I just can't see why a CB would be a priority for right now.

While this is true still doesn't mean we may have funds still available this psr window and have identied a target which will make the major defensive surgery needed at the back should they all go in the summer start a window sooner.

Also who is to say we can't sign a CB that can fill in at full back too.

You also have to be flexible if a deal/opportunity presents itself. Also botman may have said he won't sign an extension or injury put talks on hold ?maybe BDB 6 weeks is on the brighter side or maybe lacelles has said he wants away for playing reasons.

Not going to know the ins and outs of decisions really.

I can't believe some on here would prioritise a centre back when we are struggling for goals. An attacker or attacking midfielder for me.

I would never say prioritise but we are most light at the back in general and have the most injured in that area. It may have changed the clubs thoughts on who to target. Also factors like will osula get sold or willock go may also factor in.

I am unhappy how we lack a spark up front but cant keep flogging tino or hall.

Hope because the club realise the squad needs help we dip in the market in more than one place. Even better if they can convince Howe to take on loans.

I'd certainly look to bring in a left back. But otherwise, we need quality up front.

Still think that hinges on what happens with osula unfortunately.

We have spent 120m+ on our front 2 and while its not quite working not sure if the club feel the same way.

I would like an attacking midfielder or no.10 brought in one who can drive us forward and has an eye for goal but not sure that will be the plan.

Some would say we've already bought a no 10.

Too true not sure at least publicly the manager thinks that.

If the osula stuff a goer it will be telling if we go for another project player or add to the fee and go for someone of a higher immediate quality.

It might do but it shouldn't. We need a genuine quality attacking signing this January. At least one.

We're back to needing to fix a majority of positions, and so soon :(

Only if we're hell-bent on changing our identity and style as we seem to be. Our strongest XI is one of the best in the league at playing the way we have done in previous seasons.
