NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Would be gutted to sell Tino and Tonali, if we do then I hope we'd get a sizeable fee for both

After last summer. I worry about our ability to replace them, but hopefully we've learned a lesson or 2

If Tino goes then we'd need 2 RB's, and we still need a LB too 😅

Cheers saves me having to watch it in terms of the midfielders is it an either or scenario or both?

I assume if willock goes we need another body if sandro leaves we need a higher calibre player than squad option.

I woulf be gutted if tino left so young such a high ceiling only part really lacking is crossing. I wonder what sort of fee he would attract? Will it depend on if he goes to the world cup and how he performs i wonder.

Minimum of £90m for Tino. He's young, English international, CL experience and played all his career in PL. Man City were dropping £50m on fullbacks 5-10 years ago.

Kees Smit is the priority- highly rated - Real are also interested apparently. Trying to sell that he can develop here under Eddie before a big move away. Failing that Kevin Dano is also a target. I assume be one not both.

That sounds like the opposite of the message Eddie wants to give to any new signings tbh.

I agree but if the summer has taught us anything it is that we can't directly compete with the top clubs when it comes to attracting players so we are going to have be creative if we go after the same players.

The problem is, if you effectively tell a player that they can fuck off as soon as a ‘bigger’ club comes calling, you’re giving the player an excuse to pull out the ‘promises were made’ spiel right from the start.

Even if we know what the current reality is, especially around wages, get them onboard thinking they can achieve everything they want with us.

TBF Hopkinson is full of soundbites but not much else so far, lets see what the next 12 months brings.

What more would you, someone external to NUFC, expect to hear from a new CEO? What would have to be different for you to have judged him 'full' of something other than soundbites up to this point?

Theres a huge difference between a club being a stepping stone and a club selling a young player a development opportunity.

Football clubs and football players all live in the real world, theres always an element of transactionalism between a club and a player.

If we can show this Kees Smit, that we can make him a better footballer, a full Dutch international and play regularly in europe, then the future beyond that is his to be decided.

Worrying about players signing for Madrid in 5 years, seems a silly thing to do, besides which, if that happens, its likely the transfer has been a full success and we are making some serious bunce of the back of it.

We should enjoy signing quality young players. Once we can compete on wages, we can then keep the very best players long term.

Wouldn’t be a transfer window if we weren’t linked to a random South American we won’t sign.

Aye but we actually have a Sporting Director with contacts there now so it probably will become legitimate sooner rather than later.
