NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

I'll be surprised if we're not active this window what with our defensive woes presently. As mentioned the midfield needs bolstering and we could do with offloading Willock, his best days a distant memory now. Haven't given up hope on Osula just yet, believe there's something to work on there

I think we really need a specialist defensive midfielder we can bring on to shore things up. Yes Tonali can do that role just fine but he’s covering for 3 and it’s not quite working currently.

We need more pace/strength in there, someone who can just play it simple and retain possession etc.

Ultimately shoring up the midfield will give our defence a break and make their jobs easier.

The GK position is also something that needs addressing, Ramsdale has messed up a few times, and Pope will never be able to kick properly. Can clearly see now why EH has favoured Pope, but it’s still a less than ideal situation.

That is Tonali’s position - he’s never looked much cop further forward.

LB is a necessity. Just no reason not to sign one.

Willock gone and a young CM in. (Scope then in summer is Joelinton off and a big ticket CM in, that’s if there’s interest in Joelinton).

That’s the two deals I want happening. Osula out too (likely loan with option/obligation to buy).

Summer will be the big spend as there’s valid argument for GK, RB, CB (maybe x2), CM (as above) and a winger (can see one of the four leaving).

No point getting rid of Osula on loan  unless it’s with an obligation.

Not quite sure what position(s) but if we do sign players then technical ability has to be the highest priority along with character (said this for ages). Personally I would prefer quality over quantity. Players that actually make a proper difference. Would love a RW but I don't see that happening now. Pipe dream would be Nico Paz who I mentioned way before the season started. Unrealistic and we don't really play that system to take advantage of his best attributes.

He won’t be playing a single minute for rest of season unless we get decimated by injuries. He just needs getting rid so we can drum up interest on back or some glimpses back end of last season before it goes.

If it’s option, then so be it.

My mama once said, transfer windows are like a box of choclits,

You never know what you gonna get

Everyone else nabs the good ones, and you’re left with the shitty bounty coffee crunch that no one wants.

RB:   Marco Palestra (2005 - Cagliari) Great physique, fast, technical and... infinite stamina !!! Very good at crossing and through balls, he's RB but he can play all over the right flank even as a winger... An incredible all-rounder to sign quickly because many are realizing that he is a real gem.

LB:   Honest Ahanor (2008 - Atalanta)  Same skills as Palestra but on the left side. He can also play anywhere on the left and even as a CB. He's a little less technical but he's only 17 and has enormous potential.

GK: Mile Svilar (1999- AS Roma) :  Last year he was the best goalkeeper in Serie A without any doubt...his relatively low price makes him a huge bargain for everyone in Europe and UK.

The Dream:   Nico Paz...if you'd signed him instead of Elanga and Ramsey you'd be 2° in the League. The day Howe abandons his 4-3-3 I'll  open a bottle of Champagne !!!

Always thought he was a pretty good player. Not the most exciting but don’t think I ever saw him play poorly

Same, and very athletic.

If we’re looking for a rotation option with Hall the first choice then we won’t be looking at top drawer options I would assume.

If we're going after stopgaps then I hope we're looking at loans. Don't want to be stuck paying wages to someone for several years but whom we only really needed for six months.

Tbh I don't think we'll be looking at stopgaps; we can't afford to with PSR. Every signing has to represent value for money when your academy isn't shitting gold bars. We'll be looking at someone young and versatile I'd expect.

We were linked with Honest Ahanor this week and would imagine Suds is well aware of him.

Agree on Nico Paz would be the type of player to potentially take us to next level.

Really? So someone in the Club read me :coolsmiley:... I wrote about him a few months ago.

Nothing has appeared in Italy, only Chelsea seems interested in him... there is talk of an offer of €60 million but at that price it's starting to look risky...  then I'd prefer Palestra who would cost much less.

About Nico Paz... i think it's not viable for you if you don't play the Champions League next year, but a player with similar characteristics and much cheaper than Paz is Soulé (2003 - AS Roma) excellent right winger and 10 too.

Soule scored this worldie that doubled in off the crossbar so I'm all in.
