NUFC Transfer Rumours

I don't know why Graeme Bailey continues to have his tweets taken seriously like, it's really strange.

You know why, because it's a negative link. (Or at least perceived to be)

The source doesn't matter if it approves the confirmation bias.

In the dreaded zone of believing literally any transfer rumour. Hopkinson's words don't align with a push for Jones, but Eddie's rep, fairly earned or otherwise, lends credence to it. We'll only know the recruitment philosophy when the first concrete link drops.

Are you only believing these and not the other interesting links there's been? Any reason?

I don’t believe those four. They would be a good way to spend £180m and still finish midtable though.

There may be cheaper options abroad.

You can get Javi Guerra for about 30m euros - same with Lamine Camara

Fck the PL market

I don't know who Bailey, Romano, Craven, etc. are, but their informations are often inaccurate. I mean, Bartesaghi may have played 3 games as a CB in his entire life (including his youth career) and yet they list him as a LB and CB.

clearly an unpopular opinion here but Jones is really good and underutilised by a poor coach at Liverpool. Would arguably be our most technically secure player, and someone in addition to Bruno who could receive the ball from the defence and progress it.

I’d be happy if it were something like £30m. Given it’s the last year of his contract anything more would be a bit shit.

Another caveat is that I’d only want to see him as part of a double pivot. Don’t want to see him as one of our 8s in a 4-3-3 where he hardly sees the ball.

Trafford, Risser and Verbruggen mentioned in that article.

I'm not really convinced about verbruggen after his performance against us. No better than what we already have as far as i can see.

Aye, I’m not convinced by any of them linked, would probably go Trafford out of them.

I'm never normally fussed about GK signings - they're boring AF. But having seen our two brainfarts clown-show their way through this season, i'm more excited for a new GK than any other position.

Have you seen much of Risser?

The keeper issue worries me its a key position to get right but we have loads of other positions to look at keepers can be expensive.

if you gamble on a cheaper lesser known and it doesn't work you get them on the bench and potentially pope back as no1.

The keeper that comes in thanks to how badly the keeper position has been overlooked means whoever needs to come in needs to work from the off as our backups are now going or not good enough.

I imagine Trafford will be both pricey and command a decent wedge. city will out eyes out with the sell on clause as well.

30-35 million according to the article.

Really don't get the hype around Verbruggen. Honestly never rated him. I guess he's 23 so got years ahead of him. Would rather Trafford from what I've seen. I know we need two keepers but am sure Pope would be decent as a back up for a season while we sort out all the other positions we need to fill.

Puke Edwards though. will be more than 35 I reckon.

Aye, I would think so as well. I’d guess around 50 tbh.

Pep does tend to fuck people off quite quickly if they say they want to leave mind (and I’m assuming Trafford will do that).

£35m is profit on what they paid, so let’s all shake hands on that and move on with other business. Job done.

Keeper should be the number one priority. I don't think there's a position that's cost us more points this season.

I think you could debate that lack of a Bruno cover and creative spark in the middle, defensive cover which we have gotten away with in part despite Botman, Schar, Hall and Tino all having spells out and lack of a striker of such quality to get anywhere close to 20 a season, murphy on his final year and apparent decline this season and his replacement in elanga being far from a successor so far are all "priorities" thats before you have the task to replace whoever you sell.

Defensive mistakes due to the keeper, lack of trust in playing out the back which has led to more possession lost and more defensive frailty certainly have been hampered by how bad Ramsdale and Pope have been. However the rebuild is bigger than one position and we need to spread our budget or profit from player sales accordingly. The keeper situation is made worse by Pope now being shite and on final 12 months come the summer and all the others ruddy, the greek lad etc all either going or not good enough anyway.

Spending a lot on a keeper doesn't mean guarantee success but we tried the short term fix in loan with option and it hasnt worked we are now at the point we need a new number 1 to start straight we cant slowly embed a new keeper or take them out when its not working as I don't see us signing 2 keepers this summer and the alternative is more of pope (not certain he will want to play out his contract from the bench either).
