Friend of mine (West Ham fan, bless his heart) is hearing rumors of Summerville to Tyneside. He wants out of WHU and fee would be ~25-35M.

Take it with a grain of salt.

He's had a good season in a disgustingly negative West Ham side.

Could see him looking so much more dangerous in a much better team.

He's off to the World Cup now too, and so will be interesting to see how he gets on.

For that sort of fee I'd be incredibly tempted. I like his game. Think someone decent in the Prem is going to sign him and will look very clever by the end of next season.

N'Diaye at Everton gets a lot of kudos, and I think he's had a comparable season in a worse team.

Would love Gibbs-White here. Let Tonali go for good money, get what we can for Willock then watch Miley step up and Big Jo also get decent minutes. We’re crying out for a better version of a Willock type, Gibbs-White has it.

Isn't he too good for us at this point?

Would be my Gordon replacement.

Him and Niang For Barnes and Gordon would probably be good business.

Who's Niang? Only results I get are a 31 year old in Turkey.

Linked with Abde by the ever reliable Spanish press.

This is another option that might be very good. However i've seen very little of him, but i like the profile and he seems to have been very good overall this season.

Jaouen and Camara would be a nice start to the window

Camara would be a big one for me. Exactly the sort of signing we fiddled too long over last couple of years.

I know it's a bit tricky to work out these days especially considering the change to SCR from PSR, but does anyone have a rough estimate of how much money we'll have this summer after selling Gordon? I've heard some people say we've got loads but also others saying we've got practically nothing.

I’ve read that despite being out of UEFA competition we’ve agreed some tight parameters with them and are still adhering to their rules. Essentially one of the agreements is that sales will match purchases.  I think what we do will entirely depend on outgoings, really important we move on the likes of Willock and Murphy if possible

Mark Douglas reporting/speculating that our four-man shortlist to replace Gordon is Fernandez-Pardo, Malick Fofana, Victor Munoz, and Abde Ezzalzouli. My Dennis Wise report:

Pardo looks class. Seems to be the most "Eddie player" of the four in terms of versatility and power, but he's got lovely feet.

Fofana is techy as fuck with lightning feet but looks easy to batter.

Munoz looks a mix of the two. Love the look of him.

Abde looks like every LW you've ever seen tbh, nothing really stands out. He also turns 25 midway through the season, so he'd have to be unbelievably class to sell on for a big fee, if that is indeed the new model.

I disagree on the Abde part. I think he is the best among the 4 targets.

I do agree with the other three. Pardo is the most impressive one but I have doubt re the standard of league he is playing.

From Douglas:

"Sources indicated that they would proceed at speed in the early part of the summer and the conclusion of the Gordon deal backs up that promise. Newcastle now want to move swiftly on incoming deals."

Hope we can get 2/3 in before the World Cup.

Aye, not sure all our targets will be at the World Cup mind.

One important difference with SCR is how sales are treated.

Previously (under the current rules) if you made a sale then the “profit” made was all included in the year that the sale was made. Therefore if we made a £48 profit on Gordon that would have all counted towards the current year.

Under SCR the profit from sales is split over three years. Therefore if we made a £48 profit on Gordon that would be counted as £16m towards each of 2026/27, 2027/28 and 2028/29.

Therefore much less available this year and as transfer fee inflation continues to rise significantly the money carried forward becomes worth less in effect

Fair do. Not sure how I'd feel about two relatively unproven players replacing Gordon & Barnes at once. Has shades of the Wijnaldum/Mitrovic/Mbemba/Thauvin window. Would keep Barnes and sign one of those two's profile to compete with him.
