NUFC Transfer Rumours

How the hell is Thiaw a ‘jury out’?

Just my opinion, others exist.  I don’t think a back line that’s as shaky as ours can describe its new CB as being a hit.

Yeah, I think the jury is definitely still out on whether Thiaw fits the team and the way we're trying to play. He seems good individually on the eye test, but we've been so bad defensively all season and he's been part of it.

I think our back line is fine...its the lack of cover in front of it thats been the problem...that and after we score a goal, we then back up into our own box and give the opposition possession until they score.

It definitely hasn’t helped - nor have the keepers this season.

That is why it is ‘jury’s out’ for me.  There is talent there, I’m not yet convinced he’s the long term answer - but I’d like to see what he’s like with a better keeper and a holding midfielder in front of him

I also think Thiaw has been ran into the ground. 31 apps last season for Milan, 30 the season before and 24 the season before that. He comes straight into a more physical and faster league (plus CL) and hes made 53 apps this season. Probably takes some adjusting to get used to.

I don't think hes perfect but I do think hes played too much and has had little protection in front of him as well.

Agreed on all points - which is why it’s still ‘jury out’ for me.  Hopefully with a full season and another summer under the belt (and better support around him) he’ll be a massive hit.

Personally I've seen enough from Thiaw and Ramsey to give them the thumbs up.

What's the crack with the Greek keeper? I'd forgot all about him, is he supposed to be our number 1 next season with the French kid staying at his club for experience? Pope our reserve?

I haven’t seen Vlachodimos play, but there’s been positive reports of his performances in Spain

We been linked to any young CB's? Feel like that is a must.

There was a French one we were linked with in January whose name has been doing the rounds again in last few weeks. Can't remember his name.

Edit: Dayann Methalie from Toulouse.

That Viery a CB as well? Looked light though

From Youtube scouting, of all the players we've been linked with to replace Gordon, it's Tzolis that interests me the most.

Apparently didn't do much when he was at Norwich but he just looks like he has extra time in front of the goal. That kind of composure is hard to find.

Excellent for my "the strikers have struggled a lot but what's behind them is the the biggest problem" agenda. :smugdog:

Good read, seems like the people high on the list are already some of the links we've seen. Prado seems very interesting, haven't heard much about Christos Tzolis either, profile seems good.

Hearing that we might be in for Roefs.

I'd be really happy with that if so. Even if it does mean dealing with Sunderland.

Been something that’s discussed since February.
