He'll be peak value then and we're hamstrung by FFP. Do you honestly think we can fund future big money transfers without selling at least one prize asset to comply with the rules?

BT Sport and now Discovery cover the Portuguese league and show a bunch of Porto, Sporting and Benfica games.

Don't know why some of you continuously act as if it is so difficult to watch football nowadays.

We were being linked with Nunez a bunch that season he broke out and I was watching them loads mostly because of that. The following season we started being linked with Ramos too.

Most of the football I ultimately watch from other leagues will either be because of a Nigerian player I want to see more of, or to watch players we've been linked with that I I want to see.

It's not rocket science.

But you do this with lots of players you think we should sign? Acting like you've done some sort of intensive scouting [emoji38]

Do you really mean you play a lot of Football Manager and watch plenty of YouTube clips.

I trust the owners, I don't think they'd completely undo their laces and let the shoes fall off.

They're not daft enough to know the hurt it would cause, I'm confident they'd persue or find an alternative method.

Seems to me like you're projecting what you do tbh.

If you don't enjoy the sport or are into analysing it to the same extent it's no big deal.

Not necessary to be so insecure about it.

Ah, we have another that is rattled by a simple breakdown of a strikers play style [emoji38]

I didn't even say anything ground breaking in my post! Are you lot really that basic?! [emoji38]

If there are still people ignoring the fact that the ownership have been signalling all season that we're going to need to sell one of the big boys, likely Bruno, to help advance to the next stage of the project then I worry for them come the Summer. Someone is going to go, it's that or the Summer window won't be as big as people are expecting/hoping.

They haven’t been signaling they need to sell one of the big boys. They will need to sell. Likely someone regularly playing in the squad. Even EH clarified this when asked. I’d say most vulnerable is Wilson, Miggy, Longstaff and a bit more left of field Burn.

If we sell one of Bruno, Isack or Botman this summer I will apologise.

I think the signalling is more to soften the blow when they announce they need to move to a new stadium and also put pressure on the current rules by keeping it in the media’s attention IMO.

Stop trying to put a spin on what you actually do.

Sorry I pointed it out, but you do it a lot.

No need to get upset sunshine.

You're completely free to believe what you want man.

No need to apologize either, because I'm not making these posts to impress you or anyone else. If something comes about a player I am familiar with I post. If you think that's based on FM and YouTube more power to you.

Genuinely baffled you're even comparing my posts to some sort of scouting report! Maybe I should take that as a compliment

You say I do it a lot, but do I really, or do you just get rattled everytime I comment on a player?

I saw the links to Emerson from Atalanta recently, who I don't really know that well so didn't comment.

Find this whole thing so strange!

Trippier to Saudi as well, we already have his replacement.

Yeah you do, it was a bit of constructive criticism, but just maybe tone down the bollox you talk. 😉

Come on though, realitically what would we get for the players you mention. Wilson, almost 32 and always misses half a season through injury. Almiron, about to turn 30 and hardly a world beater. Longstaff, nice local lad but limited. You're looking at about £50m combined if you're lucky.

I continue to be puzzled by this narrative. Why do we have to sell one of our best players to “advance to the next stage of the project?” If we sell Bruno for 50m and buy his replacement for 50m how is that helping anything with regards to FFP? Why not just keep the good players we have and spend what we can instead?

It would be a lot more than 50m, but say it is. You sell Bruno for 50, then subtract whatever amount of his original fee was still left to amortised, to keep it simple let's say that's 10m. So you have 40m plus on the book. Anyone you buy you amortise their fee over the length of their 5 year contracts. You could in theory buy 4 50m players, and the cost on the books for that year would only be 40m. 10m for each player, with the rest being amortised over the course of their 5 year contracts (10m per year per player).

I think because if you sell the player for the cash up front, you can spread the replacement across five years, and that has an accounting impact.

So selling Bruno for £50m, you could sign 3x £50m players on three year contracts.

Or something to that effect.

It's nonsense.

Edit: @sushimonster85 explained it better above.

So based on that its £50m coming in without damaging the first team. Rather that than selling Big Joe for £60m or Bruno for £100m and needing to replace them as well as improving the rest of the squad.

What happens when there's barely any money to be raised from selling them? Personally, I don't think you raise any more than £20-25m combined for Almiron & Longstaff.

Eales used selling the £50m player for a reason.

I do think they are soft-launching the idea of selling one of our better players eventually. I don't think that guarantees a sale in the summer. I do think qualifying for Europe is massive though.

There's definetly seems to be a lot of subtext in the statements of our executives.

It could be preparing the fans for a player sale, it was similar rhetoric before ASM moved to Saudi. It could be keeping the PL under the cosh with the anti-FFP headlines. It could be both.

We don't need to sell anyone though, it really depends how much summer business we want to do.

Yeah problem is City are able to bully teams into selling players for below market value because they're such a draw. They're never involved in bidding wars, the player will make it clear they want to move there and the selling team will have no option but to do business at City's price or risk keeping hold of a player who ends up downing tools.

They pretty much have the system gamed at this stage.

It's not the sell to buy logic I find frustrating as ffp is here and we know these owners put it all back in no ashley style sell for x and buy someone for 10% of it.

However the annoying this is you say goodbye to bruno or botman who have and do make a difference when you still have others you would rather escort out the door first. For me that includes longstaff and Co.

However I know they aren't worth much or no one wants them for a fee just a loan which ultimately doesn't help the ffp issue.
