Given how long both Botman and Lascelles are out for, CB is priority number 1.

Agree with that and a right winger. Dan Burn to be our back up centre half would be ideal

[emoji38] its not an excuse its a reason to be open minded. Like i say we have a terrible habit of judging players playing in poorly performing team despite the lessons we learnt of our own players.

We don't know the budget and don't know the actually finances with revenue taking a significant boost this year on top of the likelihood of a couple players sales and with a number of players on good contracts leaving too. It's not unfeasible to have a more significant budget than everyone realises that's not based on a narrative that is imperative to the club not getting ripped off/subetly challenging PSR. We're continuously linked with midfielders, so it's fair to say it's a postion we want to strengthen and I 100% agree on it.

As for the last point, it's the exact reason why another midfielder is imperative because they will still be our options off the bench and whilst there's certainly some ability in a couple of those player to be excited about they're not ready to be key players in a high performance team. Yet.

I think it is pretty obvious we will not be spending big. We are continously linked with a lot of players, because of our owners and cheap clicks. We are also close to our limit in PSR, and we need to buy players that clearly strenghten the first XI.

We will not be spending 50 million for a midfielder. Not when we have players like Krafth, Lascelles, Dubravka, Almiron and Murphy playing big minutes. Nevermind our 2nd choice striker being injury prone and nearing the end of his career.

We have 7 players for 3 midfield places that are good enough. Without huge injury crisis that is enough. Of course if Bruno leaves, then we need a big player BUT not a player like Gallagher. He is a good player, but not any better than we have, and not a defensive midfielder. And before someone says neither is Bruno, he is still a good number 6 in Howe's system.

RW, ST,CB. Those are priority. (RW depends on Minteh situation also, but I think we are selling Almiron so would buy 1 anyway.)

A younger but fast, strong, right sided CB and you play him with Fab moved to LCB.

Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham could provide cover for rcb and lcb on a free.

Oh Rory Finneran. Seen him play quite a bit for Blackburn youth teams. We also wanted Wharton before he went to Palace. Maybe the fee and emergence of Miley put an end to that.

Yeah we definitely need more pace at CB. The thing is I don’t doubt Botman will come back to a really high level but he’s not a speedster and he may even lack his previous pace for a bit post injury.

I disagree. That group of midfielders finished 4th last season and has a very good chance of finishing 6th this season, despite missing two key players for extended periods (in Joelinton and Willock). Plus we've added a player that has proven himself at both International and Champions League level.

Since then Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal have improved and Man City remain streets ahead.

Last season also had no European games. You are basically saying the same players who got 4th can do so again whilst also playing an extra 10 games a season, you Put that workload on players you get injuries and performance dips.

Standing still really means going backwards. People said there was no need to sign Pope as Dubs was good enough, to keep Maxi over Barnes etc, but to improve it means being ruthless on quality

Don’t think FFP/PSR is close this summer, as the first January window since the takeover falls off the 3 year cycle. There should be more flexibility this summer than last year

Jeff Hendrick…like a new signing.

That top is even more horrific than his footballing ability.

I thought the exact same. How did they get the colour so wrong? The thought of Hendrick playing football in it is enough to really put you off the game for life.

Don’t think the first January window falls off this summer does it? Thought it was next summer.

Next season starts on 1st July from FFP perspective so will cover 24/25, 23/24 and 22/23 - the first Jan was the 21/22 season

Yep. Legit starting CB and RW, and if money allows, young goalkeeper who’s ready to challenge Pope. They’re the priority areas this summer.

Wilson goes, a young striker too who’s capable of playing minutes if needed first season.

After June the relevant rolling three seasons will be

24/25 (next season)

23/24 (this season)

22/23 (last season)

The January spend was in the 21/22 season.

The reason last summer was constrained is the big spends in Jan 22 and summer 22 resulted in big FFP losses in 21/22 and 22/23.
