duo
Got to question Mitchells role if we sign the likes of DCL.

AyeDubbleYoo
There's no chance we sign him, wasn't it just a random press link? We don't have to always had a really injury-prone striker in the squad, it's not a rule.
Mikky
J David Mbuemo Arda Guler and we are cooking
Yorkie
As much as I love Tripps, I'd have sooner seen him and DCL used for PSR chicanery than Anderson and Vlachodimos. I assume that's what that link was all about.
r0cafella
We aren't getting Guler or David like.
HaydnNUFC
Regarding Calvert-Lewin, Howe must be a fan if both us trying to get him in the summer and the below (from the Athletic article breaking down us signing Isak from summer 2022) is true. r0cafella
Dcl will be a last resort option for us and him. Remember he didn't come this summer because he wanted too much money.
Holmesy
I can't see Mitchell being remotely interested in us signing DCL. His remit is to make our transfer activity more fit for purpose. DCL would be an expensive stopgap at best. Yes, he offers us something different and Eddie seems keen on having a proper, physical centre forward but Mitchell will take one look at the costs and his injury record and bin the idea
Pixelphish
We're not replacing one crock with another, I hope.
r0cafella
I reckon we have to sell Isak in the summer as well so getting a replacement for him will be key, obviously DCL would be poor in that regard as he isn't close to Isaks ability.
Ikon
Players like DCL is the everything that we shouldn’t be going for no matter what. Everything opposite of him is what we should/will be looking to do!
The College Dropout
DCL played 33 games last season and has played all games so far this season. He'a just not v. good and hasn't been since the days of Carlo. 16 goals in 76 PL appearances. 11 minutes ago, r0cafella said: I reckon we have to sell Isak in the summer as well so getting a replacement for him will be key, obviously DCL would be poor in that regard as he isn't close to Isaks ability. One of him or Bruno I reckon, at least. Due to age you would prefer Bruno. But contract wise you might be forced to sell Isak within the next 24 months anyway,. Bar Southampton, they’re probably the worst offensive team in the league.
AyeDubbleYoo
Forced to sell Isak within 24 months basically means he’s got a long contract and there’s no need to do anything yet

KaKa
DCL is going to be looking for a big salary as a free transfer. I don't think we'll give him one as a backup striker, with our financial situation. Won't be at Newcastle I don't think. If he picks his next club wisely, I think he's going to bounce back significantly from next season, and look more like the player he was under Carlo. West Ham would be the way to go if I were advising him. Lots of dangerous players that create chances there. Will not be too dissimilar to Wood looking much better at Forest. Isn't this the reason we failed to sign him in the summer as part of the Minteh deal?

It's been a demoralising club to be at lately, and he's often the main threat with all the burden of scoring the goals. They don't really create consistent quality chances either. Going to be quite interesting to see what happens with him when he leaves. I think he bounces back in the right environment.

Yeah, it was mentioned he was looking for 100k, and that will be bumped up a bit as a free transfer I imagine.
