Mark Douglas in his piece is saying Mitchell is targeting players under 21 from Europe. Also says we will be in better position to spend in the summer.

I haven't read the article but it doesn't take much to be "better" in the summer we haven't upgraded the immediate starting 11 in 2 windows potentially after January 3 windows.

I doubt we'll spend now. If you want a 'gamechanging' player you generally have to pay over the odds this window and Howe may think the squad is fine and no need to make changes. May use PSR as an excuse to save up till summer. I would be minded if there's room to try for a RW player to bring some goals almost as much in case of Isak getting injured than to fill that role.

 

I also doubt if we do plan on spending anything we would be advertising it and saying as such

I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised this window. Basing that on I think Dubs and Miggy and possibly another I think will leave giving us some wriggle room…

I think you may be right but unless the youth players fill the gap and step up next season or our out of contract players extend the "war chest" won't go as far in the summer as people may hope as we need squad players and starting 11 improvements too.

Yeah but just if you're adding a 25% tax for buying in january hard to commit to any big moves. Sure if there's a good deal, someone out of contract soon who can be pursuaded who is really good maybe

Craig no hope in his latest depression tinged youtube rumblings made the leap to say let outgoings happen where you can but do without their replacements to put more money to summer which won't help the rest of the seasons trophy and top 5 push

They won't all have a winter window tax and we have season achievebeable goals to push for that recruitment may help with. 

 

As you say players with release clauses, players falling out of favour , players running down there contracts and clubs getting squeaky bums on, clubs with financial issues all must have players we can target for fairer  value up the club to find them.

Yeah no don't disagree i am just managing my expectations down as it looks like will get a deal if we can find one but not sticking our neck too far our. Hope we can grab someone, I even look forward to maybe some young prospects perhaps, but I am not sure a 'star' signing feels on the cards. Could be wrong.

My assumption would be contracts, and lining up new deals for players, Isak will be wanting more cash soon enough. We have a good number of players close to the 100-150k a week mark.

 

We can get a good number of players off the books by the end of this season, but two possibly three of those will get extended deals, then there's the big players needing to be secured to fend off interest.

Really think we should be looking at a Morgan Rogers style signing. Someone who can play on the fringes until next season. Who that is, I have no idea.

Without PSR issues this would have been a big chance to buy in a position of strength.

 

If we could have landed a top drawer right sided attacker this window, with the momentum we’ve got at the moment we could be looking at a top 3 finish.

So you’re annoyed at something, that might not have happened or might have happened.

Rather we just get rid of players this window, bring in one (GK) and maybe a young player at CB or RW, and spend rest of time getting ground work done for the big deals in summer. So they can come in early, get full pre season and help us hit the ground running next season, especially if we’re in Europe.
